Alan Wake - Take A Look - Amazing !!!

I bought one ... whilst it's not in my main machine anymore and I bought it pretty much just for GRAW ... it enhanced it quite a bit and added to my enjoyment of the game ... even if GRAW wasn't the game I was hoping it to be.
No regrets ... don't feel sorry for me I don't feel I wasted my money.

It's all relative and just a point of view ... :D

lol, looking at your sig... ;)

if it adds to the game then how can any of us knock you for getting your monies worth out of it?

i was just puting a sarcastic comment towards it. if more games suported it then it would of been one of the best ways to increase gaming realism. However, the havoc engine and the progress of games (AKA delays) hasnt helped :P

Yeah , i mean as you say it's relative i suppose.

I say this in no way disrespectfully; buying a PhysX card for 100quid or so for you i suppose is a justified amount, but if i bought one, I would have wished I'd put such a sum towards something more substantial.

Saying AW needs quad core is the same as Sony saying MGS 4 needs blueray.
And unless they make two different engines how is the 3 core X360 going to run AW if you really need quad core
In other words; lets just wait till the game is released, speculating about minimum specs is a bit pointless imho.

Oh yeah, a quad core will by no means be the minimum spec, but game designers are getting excited about the possibility of multi-core processors.

There's an interview with Gabe Newell CEO of Valve in this month's PC GAMER(UK) talking about the future Source engine update for multi-core CPUs and he speaks of a 'post-GPU future' soon where we won't be needing Graphics Cards at all, such are the benefits of a multi-core CPU.

its not a server PC. its Q4 2007 mid level gaming PC.

If they wanted to go OTT, why not use ALL dev hardware and an nV Optiplex or whatever it is called...

Intel wanted everyone to cream themselves over the power of kentsfield, it was overclocked because at the time intel were trying to get back into the homes of all the people that had been on A64 for a long time. The game will probibly need a quad core to run in all its glory, the 8800GTX's are standard issue for high end gaming PC's, they are now the price of a X1900XTX about 2 months after launch. You must remember, it was about Intel and MS promoting Quad core + DX10 as it was Remedy promoting Alan Wake.

by the time the game is out the common gamer pc will probibly be quad core anyway, it will also be DX10 as standard.

PS. speculation is fun, theres no point having the internet without having people who want to push boundries :)

Never heard of this game before , but wow it looks f*cking AMAZING.

unfortunately i really doubt my pc will run it as it is intended to look , which is a major bummer. atmospheric games arent the same without the shadows and stuff after all.

Remedy fail.

Alan Wake is gonna end up a console port. And a poor quality one at that, at this rate.

What could have been a great poster game for high-end PC graphics... is gonna be a console port. :(

I knew it was overrated when I saw the first trailer. The graphics just aren't what they hyped it up to be and I'm not even sure I'll like the gameplay and story much. It's looking a lot like the same hype Heavy Rain got. They show you very high res faces and whatnot, then in the gameplay footage clips that aren't pre-rendered clips, which are typically only used in cutscenes, you see what it will really look like. For a game that is taking so long to make, it may go down as one of Remedy's biggest failures.

To Remedy's defense, 5 yrs ago when the project was just getting started, there weren't as many publishers trying to push console titles so hard. With all the money Remedy spent on developing it, they probably realized it would be hard to do what they wanted to on PC from a financial standpoint. Still though, it would have been better to just make a dumbed down console version then later fund a full fledged PC version vs destroying it's potential entirely. Looks like all those E3 demos were kinda pointless. In fact, they may have just made things worse for them.

Argh! I'm pissed. Still hoping for a delayed PC launch, and that it's all just marketing BS trying to get us to jump on the 360 bandwagon.

Main reason this sucks is they fobbed off Max Payne 3 to make this thing and now they go and take forever on it and write off a PC release in the near future. I have no faith MP3 will be any good, and now I have no faith in this either.

Bah.

I have the reverse opinion, after GTA IV, I feel Rockstar proved if anything they can do just as good a job if not better than Remedy on MP3.

Late reaction as I've been gone awhile...

Dammit Microsoft!

That pretty much sums it up... I don't really blame them for wanting everyone to switch to the Xbox, a platform they have full control over and on which development is easier... as a capitalist and such I don't blame them for doing what is best for their business. STILL, there are a lot of people, like me on some level, who will never be happy in that model and will just stop buying new games... why not cater to these people with a quick PC version?

Whatever... done being mad about it a week or so ago, I just wanted to vent my frustration again.

Anyone been watching the prequel vids?

6 episodes already all out... probably old news for most on here...

OR on you-tube if you want to avoid the fail that is silverlight...

They're pretty damn awesome. Very twin peaks/david lynch-esque. Got my collector's edition pre-ordered a few weeks ago and i don't even own a 360... (just going to borrow a mate's as I have to play this game).
