You know, I don't doubt that your work is fine and "innocent" and it seems that nobody is gonna be banned, but I would just feel more secure if Activision had come out and told us if it's allowed or not.

It would always be nice if it were officially supported. :)

Hmm, gonna install Black Ops tomorrow, and from what I hear, we will be able to access it's console. If that is the case, I'm wondering what the fov command is called.

It would likely be cg_fov (the same as previous Call of Duty titles). This would just let you change the fov and not the aspect-ratio.

Hey Dopefish

Thanks for the fix. I just got into this. And I'm a bit of a computer noob. I've downloaded and installed/opened the Fixer v2.2.54.4393 and therefore have all the game .dll's and
the fix in the same folder etc, and its displaying on my desktop/admin mode etc. Everything looks good but I can't get it running or fix enabled? I've selected a game in this case MW2 MP v1.2.208 and Custom 5760x1080 for my three monitors(I've been using the Eyefinity no problem in games that accept it etc). i wasn't sure what to do about setting the FOV Calculator? I selected Source and Destination both as 3 x 16:9.(?) And I changed the Hotkey to Alt. +left existing two default boxes checked as is.

And i never see any change in the Status area on the Main page. Game Running is NO,
Fix Enabled is No, Aspect-Ratio: is left blank?

I go ahead anyway and start the game and depress the Alt key etc. But things remain the same. I get the stretched view if i select all three screens in 5760 x 1080 if I so select in the games Option menu, but that's it. Things are the same as before.

So I would suspect that I'm doing something wrong, and the fixer just isnt running yet.

Could you tell me from this what i should check. I do see that I'm using MS...NET Framework 4 Client Profile and MS...NET Framework 4 Extended. Is that the problem?
Do i need to uninstall these and get the Framework v3.5?

Like I said I'm new with computers so I may be making some sort of beginners misunderstanding of the obvious etc.
I read through much of the posts and maybe missed it, but didn't see my answer. Sorry if I'm asking the same question.

Nice tool

The FOV calculator is just a calculator. It does not interact with the game at all.

And I changed the Hotkey to Alt. +left existing two default boxes checked as is.

You can't set it to just Alt. It has to be Alt, Shift, or Control, plus any other key on the keyboard. The default is * (asterisk). If you left it *, and checked the box next to Alt, then to enable the fix, you would press Alt + *.

Let me know if this works for you. :)

Widescreen Fixer updated to v2.3.59:

[list]
[*][Widescreen Fixer] Cleaned up project file.[/*:m]
[*][Widescreen Fixer] Bumped main application API to 2.3.[/*:m]
[*][Widescreen Fixer] Re-enabled version checking.[/*:m]
[*][Widescreen Fixer] Fixed crash related to plugins being missing from last start.[/*:m]
[*][Widescreen Fixer] Made displaying the version number not show the build revision (it really messes with version checking).[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] Changed it so checking the updates for the application and plugins only download the XML file once instead of each time a plugin is checked.[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] Changed the way updates are checked.[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] Updates now compare Major.Minor.Build numbers rather than Major.Minor.Build.Revision.[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] New functions added for checking update and some removed.[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] Lowered timeout on downloading the XML from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.[/*:m]
[*][Library.WSF] Fixed crash related to computing the MD5 hash.[/*:m]
[*][Library.Plugin] Added a new function Reset().[/*:m]
[*][Library.Plugin] Added a new function CheckSupport().[/*:m]
[*][Library.Plugin] CheckSupport() is only exposed internally and should be used with new threads for checking if a game is recognized or not.[/*:m]
[*][Game.Call of Duty 6] Added MD5 sum for Steam version.[/*:m]
[*][Game.Ghost Recon] Added MD5 sum for Steam version.[/*:m]
[*][Game.*] Updated all game plugins to API 1.3.[/*:m]
[*][Game.*] Renamed "Unsupported" to "Unrecognized" for game plugins. This should help cut down on confusion.[/*:m]
[*][Game.*] Checking the whether the game is supported now spawns a thread to check with a startup delay.[/*:m][/list:u]

I'm going to be releasing a new version of Widescreen Fixer and all the plugins in a little bit. The API has changed some and there are a lot of changes to it. I fixed some crashes and got rid of some bugs (and probably added more). I'll update this post when I have a complete change list to show.

As for Black Ops, I don't have the funds for the game so I don't know when I can add support for it. If someone would be willing to gift me the game on Steam or donate enough that I can buy it myself, I would greatly appreciate that and have a fix out as soon as the game is ready. :)

Hey buddy , Elmy here. I'm sitting here waiting for steam to release the game in a few hours. Thanks once again for working on the Black Ops fix. Can you PM me as soon as you get it done. I'm going to put up a youtube video as soon as you get it working like the other games that you have done. If anyone else is interested in my videos search on youtube for elmnator1... That is my username on there. Alot of Eyefinity videos.

Also I will be donating to you on payday on Friday.... If anyone else enjoys Dopefish's widescreen fixer It would be nice but not necessary if you could donate to Dopefish as well. There is a donate button on his widescreen fixer page.

I was at PDXLAN 16.5 this past weekend and was talking to a head guy at Activision about your work and asking why they can't add Eyefinity support and he said it was probably because of the limited staff resources and everyone working so hard on getting the game out. I said ... " So a guy in his spare time unpaid can make it work in less than a week and you guys with a building of 100 developers can't get it to work in 2 years ? " He sat there unable to say anything and just shrugged his shoulders. I then told him it would be easy just get ahold of this guy and ask him to code it for you. Then send you the code. And he said maybe ... I said of course you would have to reward this guy with some cash. So I tried to get you a plug and some cash and such. I told him how to get ahold of you. Whether or not it happens idk. Probably not. But at least I tried. Here is the video from PDXLAN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCPMHIDpT88&feature=player_embedded .

Anyways thanks again Dopefish and look for a Donation from me on friday or so.

From what I've been seeing about widescreenfixer and MW2, there might have been VAC bans issued. I guess my COD days are over, I can't go back to single screen anymore. I'll have to settle for Bad Company 2 and MOH.

This is for Black Ops ;)

I changed the following setting to 85 for a much more pleasant FOV, but the game will adjust the setting down to 80 which seems to be maximum FOV allowed. But it's still a big improvement over the default setting of 65.

Fov setting: seta cg_fov_default "80" and seta cg_fov_default_thirdperson "60"

You can find these settings in the config.cfg file. Don't know if this works for MP as well.

Nice plug .

It's kind of funny that guy at activision gave you such a generic reason. Did he just think you would mindlessly agree and walk away .lol . I really wish ATI and Nvidia would put some pressure on these developers. If they haven't already. It really just baffles me that such a title as COD wouldn't want to make the game work out of the box . Is it really that hard.

Alright. Please test this and let me know.

If it says unrecognized, and you are using the Steam version, I'm not sure where the issue might lie. It relies on MD5 sums. I wonder if Steam generates a different .exe and MD5 sum for each user.

I would like to get some video footage of the SP campaign with an without dopefish's fix. I want to promote how the community has done what the dev/pub could not do.

If you are able to help with this, please send me a PM.

Thanks again DF, and now the routing to Ozzie servers doesn't go via the US for us NZers! Yaay ping less than 200. It is still 90 cos for some reason it goes via Melbourne and Adelaide to get to Sydney, but 90 is an improvement

Nice work, Mr. Fish. I guess I'll be grabbing a copy in the coming weeks when i get my first paycheque. Unless someone else hates it and wants to sell me a serial on the cheap....

Works great! FMVs are across left/center bezel but it's no matter. Other FMVs are stretched, but it kinda adds to the affect they
re trying to achieve What matters is that the important parts are there, and properly placed. Have only tried SP.
