GOOD NEWS!
From
http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/home.html
And as for widescreen, we also want to say we completely understand a user's desire to augment their FOV. BioShock is a harrowing experience, but we don't want anyone to feel limited (or motion sick!). So we are in the process of working on an official PC patch to give widescreen PC users a choice to expand their horizontal FOV, and are investigating creating a similar update for the 360.
And finally, I want to personally congratulate Racer_S from the Widescreen Gaming Forums, and his awesome user patch to expand the widescreen FOV in BioShock. I'm currently tracking him down via email, but hopefully, he'll accept my gratitude, and maybe an Nvidia 8800 to boot.
Well done Racer :) and yay we're getting a patch!

And now begins the serious backpedaling to try and recover from this PR disaster.
But at least they are doing something.
Kudos to racer, thats one heck of a donation ;)

In case any of you don't know, I am actually Racer_S, I'm glad I could help the world out with the widescreen fix. Tell them Paddy, how I am really Racer_S.
Can someone give them my email? Cool, can't wait to collect my 8800 card.

It would be nice if they would acknowledge that they made a mistake somewhere along the line, if for no other reason than to prevent other developers from doing the same in the future -- but then again, who cares, right? As long as they offer a fix, what difference does it make
why they say they're offering it? In the end they're doing the right thing, and that's what matters.
I'll add my congrats to racer (and to the WSGF, of course). RACER VS. THE WORLD!!!!

Registered just now to thank Racer_S and this forum community in general for the fix as well as information on widescreen gaming. This community really made quite an impact on 2K.
And congrats to Racer_S on his new 8800 :). You deserve it.

Sorry, thats what I mean't DX10. I'll be patient because I can't stand the FOV as it is, demo made me feel ill within minutes, felt like I was zoomed in all the time.
Anyway you guys here derserve alot more than just token praise, but again I'll say good work on all fronts - for whatever it's worth :) :D

nice little app - using it to make lower non-widescreen resolutions look the correct ratio so that my struggling 3 year old pc looks good on my 1680x1050 monitor.
Just need to work out why Bioshock crashes my pc in the same area whether it's SLi, FoV fix or nVidia beta drivers tonight. (i really need a new PC but that's not til May next year under my 3 year purchase rule)
