I can use dopefish fix, but when the cases load, the audio goes dead. The only way to run the game for me is with sound, so I can only run it at 1920 X 1200. I've tried everything. I'm going to try running the game in windowed mode. If anyone has the audio issue, please post the fix.

I would be most grateful if a widescreen fix for non-steam .exe was crafted.
Thanks

I discovered for those who experience audio dropout issues when running the dopefish fix that if you wait until the level loads up before initiating the * key to correct the aspect ratio, you can play with full audio. There must be something in the .dll file in dopefish's fix that is conflicting with my audio drivers during the loads. Just remember to back out of the aspect ratio fix during tranisitions and you'll be fine. It also could be NVIDIA driver issues. I'm running an Auzentech Forte audiocard with the latest drivers and an 2 480s in SLI at 5760 X 1200 res (6000 X 1200 bezel corrected).

I haven't played it long enough to test audio issues.
I've been working on the Skidrow version but I'm not having much luck. All of the static pointers that should be there like they are in the Steam version just don't exist. I've scanned so much and haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

Obviously this is a labor of love and as you provide a free service I would never demand or expect something from you guys, but I can incentivize.
I just donated 50 bucks to the ChipIn thingy because you guys have helped me out so much in the past. But if you fix my letterboxing in 16:10 problem before I finish the game (I'm 4 cases in on Homicide) then I'll throw in 50 more.

I could play the first mission without problems
After the second day in the mission, the game crashes as always with this error message, right at the beginning where it says always ask for the same
I already tried v2.4.115 Widescreen Fixer / v3.0.138, there is always the same error, without the Fixer Widecreen it goes without problems, the only way one can not play

Is it possible to enable the fix after the second mission has started? Maybe it won't crash then. There might be some data in between loading that it doesn't like. I'll have to play the game more and test it out.

Thanks landahl, its a 30FPS and black bars fix, wont do anything to multi-monitor screen change behavior (Vert-), btw its jackfuste's stuff, this guy is a legend at Rage3D. :onethumb

Hey Dopefish,
Just wanted to let you know I tested out your new test version of widescreen fixer to get LA Noire to run (steam v1.1 version) and here's what I've found:
1). The main menu looks great but as soon as you click on options or esc in the game the menus look wiered (some options sag down the screen)
2). The HUD on the left screen is not scaled properly (no biggie for me)
3). When exiting the game, there's an error message that pops up about read/write errors. (It was mentioned before in the widescreen fixer thread but let me know if you would like me to re-post a picture of the error message).
Other than these minor issues your tool works great!
I know these issues have been mentioned before and other people are proposing fixes for non-steam verisons of the game but any chance you can update us on the status of these fixes and whether or not they will fixed in future releases?
I appreciate all your hardwork and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
kiax0001

I made an account on this here forums to ask for updates on the retail version of the fix.
FYI, you don't need to CD to play, just to install.
Thanks for your time.

1) I'll look into this. I can't remember if I ran into any issues with the menus, but I didn't really go through all the menus. I mostly just tested in-game.
2) I've done no work on HUD centering or scale. The only thing I've implemented is a FOV adjustment. The HUD scaling issue is an issue with the game engine itself. Once I get the FOV working well enough and other versions of the game working fine then I'll go back and work on HUD issues.
3) I'm aware of this. Some changes I've made recently to the code should have prevent that from happening. It's nothing to worry about. Basically, when the game is running and the fix is enabled, it's constantly writing to memory. When you quit the game, it may exit while WIdescreen Fixer is in the middle of writing to memory. Since the process just suddenly vanished, Widescreen Fixer doesn't know what happened and it crashes. I have a solution locally that just does exception checking.
I know these issues have been mentioned before and other people are proposing fixes for non-steam verisons of the game but any chance you can update us on the status of these fixes and whether or not they will fixed in future releases?
I have plans to. It's just difficult to work on a version that you don't have. The cracked .exe file is completely different in layout than the Steam version, which makes it quite a bit more complicated.
FYI, you don't need to CD to play, just to install.
If the retail version did not require the disc in the drive then why would they have copy-protection and cracks online?
I'll get something going for the cracked versions soon.
