Never actually noticed the UI

Never actually noticed the UI problems until i played online.

EVerything works fine bar the UI parts for allies, sometimes there on and working but 90% of the time there not.
And the glare seems to scale +hor.

Eg.

Works perfectly on a single screen. Anyone else got this?

Just thought I'd chime in to add to the fire...

In the beta, my HUD was all kinds of messed up; no map, no anything... Now in the retail release, my HUD is perfect, but the icons indicating team and vehicles and stuff are all stretched whenever they do appear (and not on top of the people/vehics) or they are missing entirely (80%+ of the time).

If I had to choose, I'd lose the HUD (felt kinda hardcore not knowing how many round, health, etc.) and keep the team indicators... Far too often I'm shooting teammates and not shooting the enemy to make sure they are the enemy first. Sometimes I just constantly watch the map to see if a friendly is over by where I saw some guy walking/sneaking. This is just torture.

I'm not willing to turn off eyefinity or crossfire or anything else though. I paid far too much not to enjoy this to the fullest. If i have to learn the player models good enough to not need indicators, so be it!

That is the problem you see. The problem exist during BETA phase and DICE is claiming they have NEVER seen this problem before.

Really do they even have a QA department?

Well I tried full screen again, with the latest catalyst profiles (11.9 cap 4) and it doesn't fix any hud icons issues.

What actually happens is that on eyefinity resolutions the hud icons will sort of sometimes work (although stretched) and mostly they won't work. Seems to be largely random and pressing the map m/n keys seems to break it if it was working before.

So 4800x900 it is for me till they fix it. If it wasn't for the terrible full screen glare the game would be quite playable.

Hello, please excuse my bad english,

I have the same problem with the HUD, etc.

I play at 7680x1440 medium settings if I want to play but only with a TFT 2560x1440, I have no HUD, if enabled surround gaming: (

Here's an example:



After I returned as a full image-adjusting, and take hit, then does such a picture, both in single player and multiplayer



Any ideas how I can play in 2560x1440 with enabled surround gaming?

I am very very grateful for any tip

only thing you can do, is either to switch off eyfinity/surround on desktop. than you can play also in fullscreen on single monitor.

Or, if you want keep surround/eyefinity switched on, you have to play BF3 in window mode. Than the hud will appear again.

HUD issues

Hi!

I had no issues with the HUD (DIsappearing Player-Tags or having them on the left display) until I updated to "Cat 11.10 Preview3" today. So just switching back to my "winning team" official "Cat 11.9 with CAP 4" on my 5970. Of course then the Mini-Map and Chas are back on the edge of the screen but this is minor compared with constant teamkilling.

Edit1: Great, issue still present after uninstallation of 11.10 Preview and installing 11.9 again....

Problem in window mode is that it is using 1 of my GPU only.

The only problem that I have had is my HUD is not centered. The HUD is not on the extreme outside either. The radar is near the center of my left display and my ammo count is the same but on the right..

To be honest the hud icons are not a big deal since we can just play with a lower resolution.. the sun/flashlights though basically blind me every time I even look remotely in that direction. Pretty ridiculous and completely unplayable when that happens.

same issues with Sapphire 2GB HD5870 eyefinity 6 edition
running 3 1680x1050 monitors. Switched to single screen until they find a solution.

I could play the game on medium settings with 3 monitors now it's ultra. at least this is a compensation :D

I found a fix for the player icons

I found a fix for the player icons by turning 1 of my screens off while the game is running and after you hear the device disconnect sound turn it back on. The only downside is the HUD is not centered.

Im using a 5870 so im not sure if it will work for nvidia users.

edit: did some further testing, i need to turn of my left screen which is also my preferred display for it to work.

also adding the fix the Spyle posted my hud is now centered:
Run at a resolution lower than your desktop, such as 4800x900. First thing you'll see is your hud is now nolonger centered.. No problem! Go into your DocumentsBattlefield 3settings folder and open PROF_SAVE_profile in notepad. Change the line "GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.800000" to "GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.300000" (30 worked for me)

Nevermind! I got it working! Edited the profile as stated above and I play in windowed mode. I lose frames but it all works fine. Just play lower until we get an official fix.

My rig is. Sli 570's, I7 2600k, 8gbs of memory 1600. Resolution 5760x1080. I get 30 frames on Textures high and everything else medium and off.

With the 11.10 WHQL I get immediate BSODs and DX-Errors all the time. Thankfully I found a Restore Point with my working 11.9-Eyefinity-Config that has no HUD-Issues.

I didn't bother with the current 11.10 release, knowing that it's probably older than the preview drivers out now. But hopefully their 11.11 will bring about some performance improvements to our cards. Still waiting on DICE to release a patch for the game... but they're probably swamped with bug reports and ideas/suggestions. Then again, a few things that they need to do to Battlelog is still not done... yet... and I wonder what their plan is for that dev team.

I'm still struggling to get decent kills due to the friendly/foe icons not showing up properly. But oh well. I'll start to get used to seeing what uniform is what w/o having to spot and wait for audio confirmation.

found a fix for centering

found a fix for centering tags on the screen:

1. clear all your monitor groups (not in eyefinity menu but in Desktop managment)

2. attach one screen to your middle screen

3. make a big group with your 3 monitors. (at this time all my monitors called #2 (bevore they was #1))

4. set your brezel

5. after that go into the eyefinity menu and set the middle screen to primary


Once I did this it works. No idea if you have to follow all the steps or use the new 11.10 eyefinity menu to set the middle screen as primary, didn't even know they added that feature with the new driver release.

Now all they have to do is fix the light flare problem and we're good to go.
