I'm not sure what process you're going through for driver updates, or if you're using something like Driver Sweeper. Also, people have had issues using beta drivers. It may take a clean install of 10.7a. I would certainly uninstall and user Driver Sweeper at the least.
I still don't get why nV and ATi drivers alike need to be fully cleaned, is it really so hard to integrate a proper uninstaller into the installer to save the end user the hastle?
I personally have never had a problem not using a driver cleaner, sweaper whatever you want to call it, but the number of problems I have seen fixed by using them is enormous.

I'm into computers since 15years when I started with a 486DX2-66 and as well never used any sweeper software; I followed previous instructions as couldn't fix the flickering screen issue, and was surprised to see it work !!
Will keep this in mind next time I doubt about the uninstalling capability of a program..
