I'm not exactly PLP, but I'm 1600x1200+1920x1200+1600x1200

I have a 2405 and FW900 and I could've gotten a 24" lcd for triple setup, but I wanted an IPS panel and small dot pitch, hunted down and drove 160 miles for two 2001FPs, I was certain 5120x1200 is supported by eyefinity!

Unfortunately not, but you can try the few tricks here and other threads to run it.

You could also run it at 4800x1200 but put in the FOV for 5120x1200. 2D objects / huds / etc. will be a bit stretched, but 3D objects will look correct. It may also be a bit fuzzy since 1600x1200 is being stretched horizontally to 1920x1200.

I have just purchased a 6970, will be interesting to see how well it performs using this "trick".

I'm going to put this out there. If you're running games in windowed mode, you can always create a shortcut that using ultramon that will maximize the game over you're desktop and even move it so you don't see the bar on the top of the window (This is what I do for Surround gaming on Halo 2).

If you're lazier, you can just make a hotkey in ultramon to extend the game to desktop.

1. Go to General (under options).
2. Change Resize mode "to fit"
3. Uncheck "take taskbars into account when maximizing to desktop"

This sort of thing honestly cannot be as hard as AMD/Nvidia make it out to be.

Case in point: I started playing Eve Online again after a year, and in the latest patch, multi-monitor stretching support was created. So now I can drag windowed Eve client across all three of my screens, even though they share neither a vertical NOR a horizontal resolution. And the effect is still fairly convincing despite the mismatch.

Couldn't make this happen in HL2 through the Steam launch options, unfortunately.

This is a pro tip. Unfortunately, at least with my mismatched monitors, in HL2 I get PLP but the resolution seems to remain 25x16 so it's ugly, or maybe it is cropping and zooming, I can't tell.

A lot of times, it literally stretches the image instead of rendering at the now higher resolution. Kinda sucks imho.

Has anyone had any luck with source engine games, really want to play portal 2 in PLP =(.

Was thinking something along the lines of maybe trying to change the resolution from the devoloper console once in the game, but cannot seem to find any options. Launcher options will not work as earlier discussed... =(

I'd say run it in windowed mode, then use the resolution commands to get into the resolution you need.
You could also use SoftTH (works very well with source engine games)

I gave that a go, for some reason the launcher resolution changer commands don't work in the developer console. If someone happens to know some dev console resolution changing commands that may be handy here!

Hey, I don't know if this would help you as I am using Nvidia.

Portal 2 wouldn't start when launching from 5910x1080@60Hz (1920x3 w bezel correction) for me. Series of anomalities leading to a hard lock needing a reboot from the switch... I then used the launcher options with "-height 1080 -width 5910", it would load up to the menu but with some different resolution (much smaller and only on center screen). There I could select the correct resolution from Graphics options. Had a problem free almost 3-hour session like that.

Reason I am replying here is I saw some other set of launch options like "-w xxxx -h yyyy" for TF2. Are these two formats interchangable? If not try -width -height one and see if it would work.

Good day.

Edit: Fixed a spelling.

GenericBeing, I think there is a "-window" or "-windowed" that you also need to set in order for it to not run fullscreen.

Does anyone know if this will work for World of Warcraft? If so, what do I have to modify? Would it be in the Config.wtf?

I am trying to get P-L-P working with a Dell 30" and 2 Dell 20" 4:5s. I have an HD 6970.

Had been using a 24" 19:10 center and used all three monitors at same resolution using eyefinity multi-dispay. Just replaced the 24" with the 30" and rotated the 20s. Didn't think it'd be this difficult.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

27" 2560x1440 with 2 1440x900 flanks laptop lcd replacement

Post by nickchong »

Hi guys, hope this might help anyone looking for a PLP setup with 27" 2560x1440

i have the imac 27" which i connect to my pc as a display.
to flank them i use 15.4" 1440x900 laptop lcd replacements, they fit perfectly and more over the bezel is super thin. thinner than any other screens. My apartment is small hence a plp setup works best.

to connect the lcd screens to the computer i bought this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Compatible-R-RM5251-LCD-Controller-Board-Kit-DVI-/270972904541?pt=US_Server_Boards&hash=item3f173e645d#ht_10100wt_1159

just tell them the model of lcd you're using and they program it for you.

Displays: 27" imac + 2x 15" 1440 x900 laptop replacement screens
Display Config: PLP

Post by Haldi »

there is still no Oficcial Support from AMD/Nvidia for PLP ? You have to use self made stuff, windowed mode or SoftTH right ?

Hey guys, was wondering if this trick you are talking about would work for some sort of setup for me?

I was thinking about trying a PLP set up with my 27" Qnix IPS 2560 x 1440 and my 2x 19" Dell 1280 x 1024 monitors? I also have a LG Flatron 22" @ 1920 x 1080

Is there any hope to get a working widescreen set up for this config? I think xfire is out anyway..

All I really want is a good peripheral viewing experience to add to Battlefield 4. I have it running well in single screen on the Qnix @ 1440 mostly maxed out settings (except AA) and OC'd to 110hz. (with battlescreen on the Flatron to my left in landscape) and would love that little extra viewing.. even if its not perfect, I just like to see guys coming at me from the sides..

Is there any hope for me!??

Thanks,

Ian.
