Let's go, someone go make a video. :rockout

I would settle for a well made set of screenshots, you would think that if they was going to just add eyefinity support at release they would make some sort of song and dance about it, god knows they need the good publicity for this game given the shit storm that followed there DRM announcement.

How about downloading the patch and extracting the data by taking it from the temp directory before it cleans up? Does that work? :D

If you look at the edit date on patchnotes.txt, it was modified on Monday afternoon before this was even announced.. and you can see the date modified on the setup files is 3/4 at 2:57 am because that's when I downloaded the patch.

So unless ubisoft is faking patch notes.. I think we've got EF support :) Still not buying because of that DRM, though.

Maybe it is true, I would of still expected them to make more of this, they really need the good publicity atm, sorry thing is before the whole DRM thing I was going to pre-order this game, after it, I've just lost any enthusiasm I had for this game. Oh well, Supreme Commander 2 was posted yesterday so I'll get you all some lovely 5040x1050 screenshots and maybe a video in :triplewide now I've got that setup as well, well I say triple wide it'll be at 1920x400. :P

Just checking, since you didn't quote the part before that, you do know the screenshots will be of Supreme Commander 2 not Assassin's Creed 2.

I don't think that saying "hey, we're supporting eyefinity" would do anything to help people forget about the DRM.

I'm glad they've decided to add support for eyefinity, but I'm still not buying the game while it has that DRM in place.

I've been making it a point to buy every game that supports DX 11 and Eyefinity.. so I've got DiRT2, Alien vs Predator and now Bad Company 2. Hopefully many other games to come :)

I think you are vastly overestimating the percentage of buyers who care about DRM.

Of course that said, the percentage of DRM-aware buyers would be higher in the Eyefinity demographic because of the obvious tech knowledge.

This.

Most eyefinity users are enthusiasts, and most enthusiasts care about DRM. Everybody else doesn't mind being pushed to the console version of the game by oppressive draconian DRM methods.

My point was any good press is good press, and given how much greef they've been getting over the DRM they would jump at the opportunity to show that they do care about legitimate customers. That said "Added support for ATI Eyefinity technology" might just mean the game will run at eyefinity resolutions but its still pillar boxed.

But now I'm being overly pessimistic, because that would be a extremely dump ass thing to do, say you added support for eyefinity when all you've done is made the resolution selectable, but you still are forced to play with only a 16:9 render.

No, thats how it was out of the box, now the patch added real wide support.

And I hate to break it to you but games that are specifically console ports won't look a lot better on the PC. Often times the FPS will be a lot worse too (e.g. GTA4). So why wait many months for a PC release (I played AC2 last year already) just to get shafted by the multitude of PC problems?

Performance of GTA4 is in the 15-30s fps with a console, runs like crap in 360 (not 100% for ps3). And Mass Effect on 360 the same.

I don't understand what is being missed here. I said that playing PC at EyeFinity resolutions it's common to get worse FPS than playing at console 720p/1080p resolutions. This should be pretty intuitive even to anyone who thinks about it for a moment. 3X the resolution of course the FPS will be worse.

I don´t think so. Many console games have huge slowdowns, wich you´ll dont have with a decent triplemon rig. And even if there is no slowdown in console, most are locked to 30fps or have dull textures, lack of AA, very low distance of view, ...

For ex, In Dead Space I get more FPS at 7680x1600 in pc (using SoftTh, no eyefinity, using a 285GTX) than xbox360, with more quality too. Most games are way more playable at four+ times the resolution the console and with more quality. In GRID I can play with 51 mininum fps at 4320x900 with 4xAA (with a 8800U), and most of the console ports are the same.

Some have poor optimization, but even that runs way better at higher resolutions in pc than in console, because many console games run pretty bad.

Saludos.

Wasn't there an Nvidia driver update a while ago that increased the FPS in Protoype (or maybe it was Mirror's Edge) by 90% or something like that? Even after the grain of salt that is a hefty FPS bump.

Yes, i posted about that, but no grain of salt needed, at least for me, running Prototype the 191.07 (afai can remember) really boosted the FPS by 90% - all maxed at 5040x1050.

OOh, awesome. The console versions eliminated that feature this time and I am glad to know it is back.

Awesome shots too, can't wait for the US release next Tuesday.

One word: victory! :cheers
I sure wish the stupid DRM policy could be "patched" as easily as this, but still, great news.

thales, what can I say ? Awesome display of TripleHeader instinct right there, mate :bowdown

Did my last post (review and screenshots) get deleted because of a breach of a forum rule or...?

Edit: found it moved. All good. Video should be up shortly once Youtube finishes butchering it but I'll put that in the other thread also.
