native resolution should be at least 1280x1024 or 1680x1050, which seems to bee the main problem.

I think it is hard to find a projector with native resolution of 1680x1050 because that that resolution, like 1920x1200, has aspect ratio of 16:10 which basically belongs to computer display standard . The other segment is the HDTV standard which is basically 16:9 like 1920 x 1080. Although these 2 segments are merging, projector makers are still leaning heavily on the TV entertainment market. I guess, number of people using a projector to watch movies far exceeds that using a projector for PC games.

[quote].... however there is not enough games supporting that res yet, ...
I suppose his point is, not all games support 2560x1600, and now with TH2G we can achieve a much higher res than that...

Well it seems the games previously supported still are, see SGU 2.08... so making the jump from 3840x1024 to 5040x1050 shouldn't be a problem :?:

I have an Analog TH2Go right now.. I don't think I will be buying a DTH2Go just so I can get 1680x1050, mostly because I am too poor right now to buy 3 widescreen monitors :D.

Anyway, awesome job Matrox, time to start buying up lots of widescreens in the future.

I am curious about this 3x1920x1200.. since it's >5.5 megapixels, what's the deal there? Will we be able to use 2 dual link DVI slots and have it get treated as "one" monitor? Or will 3x1920x1200 at 24-bit be impossible since it exceeds the bandwidth ? I suppose there is always the option to trim down to 18-bit bandwidth, it wouldn't be a huge difference for playing games anyways.

Matrox might just add a Display Port as the 3rd input?!

Maybe the main concern that Matrox is not adding this current technology is because none of the current available graphic cards can handle 3 x 1920 x 1200. I speculate that even the next generation cards (ATI's HD 5000-series and Nvidia's GTX300-series) cannot handle it. Maybe the next next generation will. And assuming the 'life span' of each generation is about 1.5-2 years, it will be 3-4 years from now before the HD6000-series and GTX400-series come out. So, maybe, Matrox will have such a product by then??
Better stop here for too many 'maybe's and 'assume's.

Well I dabbled with 3x1920x1080 with my 2 ultras, since it was with softth sli was disabled and only one of em was rendering anything, it still flew through things with max AA and all.

If that next 'big bang' gets me sli+multimonitors it'll be even better.

I should try that grid demo with it though, oblivion isn't really recent.

I uninstalled grid because I couldn't even finish 1 race however.

Great, so that's another 8 years that we have to wait for Matrox to release TripleHead2Go with a Display port (took them 8 years to support DVI..), I guess at least by then most people will have video cards with Display ports.

Looks like I'll just go with a 3x1680x1050, doesn't mean I can't use 1920x1200 when I'm not gaming :D.

------

Speaking of the new update, what is the frequency in Hz that the new resolutions are at? I think it would be helpful to know so we don't accidentally buy a monitor that doesn't support it.

(2) When you use single screen mode, does yours come up in the middle screen now? Actually I like to know if this new firmware update includes this 'single screen at center' fix.

Single screen mode can be set to any of your screens using a new feature ... "Swap Displays"
You can also switch between various TH and SH resolutions using a hot key of your choosing.

To explain this new feature a bit:
If you press the button in your settings you change through this settings:

1:Left - 2:Middle - 3:Right (default)
1:Left - 2:Right - 3:Middle
1:Middle - 2:Right - 3:Left
1:Middle - 2:Left - 3:Right
1:Right - 2:Left - 3:Middle
1:Right - 2:Middle - 3:Left

So if you change from first to second mode the Area that you have normally on your right monitor is now on your middle monitor. And what was on your Middle Monitor displayed at the right.
It looks like you plugged the cables wrong.

But the trick with that is that whatever mode you choose, when you enter single screen it will displayed at the left monitor.
So, if you choose the mode "Middle - Left - Right"
And plug the cables this:
1..2..3 (TH2G monitor numbers)
|...|...|
M..L..R (monitors on your desk)
the single screen mode will displayed on the "1" output, so in single screen mode the display is on your middle screen.

you have to plug the cables into your TH2G like the mode you made through this feature, not as shown on the device or in the manual.

The part in bold is unnecessary you do not have to swap cables around at all.
For a "how to" to get your single screen gaming on any of your monitors without swapping cables around ... look here ... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14184

Woe is me. I'm on a dual Dell 2007FPW and I so wish I could use that kind of setup. Oh woe is me. I dunno how BF2 and 2142 would handle this... but man, playing in Guild Wars would grant me all the screen estate that I could ever want.

Hi guys!

It is great to see this long waited update to our TH2G! :)

If someone is interested on the preformance drop, here goes few benchmark results with rFactor I just did over this weekend.

Settings used:
nVidia GTX280:

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/4340/2gtx280config2cj6.jpg

ATI HD4870:

rFactor:

Dx9
Track: Montreal original
Car: Mod F1 MMG
Race with 26 cars, starting at the 13th position.

The FPS drop seems to be completely worth the image improvement.

Cheers,

57 Hz for 1440x900 and 5040x1050.

Well, now that I know it's 57 Hz... how would I go about setting that?

Am I the only one who can't download the new version from Matrox's site? I click the link and it leads to a file that isn't there.

I'm not sure what you mean by "file that isn't there" ... but this this link which I added to the bottom of the original post should work .. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/gxm/windows/th2go/digital/howto1/
On that page there are instructions for installation ... a link to the "Firmware" and a link to the updated PowerDesk software.
When you click the link to get the Firmware you have to agree agree to the "Matrox Specific Notice" at the bottom of the page before it becomes downloadable.
Same goes for the GXM software suite 2.03.02 ... PowerDesk.

Hmm strange, it the download worked this time. BUT DISASTER, after trying to install the new firmware the screen being driven by the TH2GO went blank! (Only centered screen is driven by TH2GO in desktop mode). I had to reinstall the older firmware (2.1.0.5) I was running to get it to work again. : ( The whole reason I was doing this is because for some reason the TH2GO sometimes doesn't like to communicate with my video card and it shows "Unknown (no DDC communication)" and bezel management doesn't work.

Hey everyone,

I'm having some issues with the new 3x1680x1050 resolution. Notably, when I exit certain programs or games which change to a lower res, the system seems to have a hard time getting back into the 5040x1050 mode. Usually requires quite a few tries for it to go back into it and stay there, the first few tries it reverts to 800x600.

Anyone else having this issue or is it just me?
