These things I found funny from those boards...

1) Most of the people against Hoz+ own 4:3 monitors.
2) Some Unreal Engine fans seem to think that Bioshock is the only game using Hoz-

.. ah internet wars.

well, I did not notice on :welcome that some moderator would lock topic here because he or someone else had different opinion on something than the author of the topic

hey WSGF moderators, do you do the same as them - do you lock or delete threads that you disagree with?

maybe we are more open community than them

PLS delete on WSGF just SPAM topics and topics with plenty of 4-letter words

We have a great community here and generally we don't have to resort to such measures ... spam of course gets removed.

We even have an anti horz+ guy ... trrll ... frequenting the forums ... we haven't stopped him ... it is just his opinion and mostly about Bioshock.
As long as he is civil then fine ... we let him have his say even though most of us think he talks a lot of nonsense ...

No, we don't.

There are a very few occasions when I'll get so frickin' sick of a topic that I'll lock it. I'll never delete it outright. Circular piracy arguments are one of those occasions, when you get two people who are polar opposites on the topic (ie: one pirates everything under the sun, and the other could be poster child for the RIAA/MPAA) and spend the next five million posts argu... sorry, "dabating" about it.

I'll delete a thread from scratch if it's designed purely to be inflammatory in whatever form. I've done that once since I became a Moderator here - and it was not game related in any way, shape or form. If a post in an otherwise normal thread is like that, I'll either edit the content or delete the single post.

Threads locked or MIA without any explanation at all? Not happening.

It seems that someone started another thread over at Epic's forums...

http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=576972

While the thread is now locked, it hasn't disappeared yet.

I have asked why they are sensoring the thread:

EDIT: WOW! Less than 5 minutes, 1 reply, and it was removed! DAMN!

I found the previous threads too by clicking on your own USER CP and finding all of your own posts:

Hi Capable, I remember seeing your name over there too.

:welcome

Perhaps we as a community can inform the game developers who have lisecned the UnrealEngine3 that EPIC is sensoring anything widescreen.

Is there some way we can use a back door to make EPIC comment?

This is unnacceptable and now I feel the Left Greeny Socialist coming out in me. Campaign I say!

Can we write into games magazines?

The only comments that haven't been deleted or locked are in the post of the 19" 4:3 or 19" wide monitor discussion...

http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=576670

But I wouldn't be surprised to see it locked now that I've posted it here.

I posted without some rationale and reasoning.

I say take some screen shots, or at least save the web page that containts the thread, so if it does get deleted, it can be reposted.

Is there a way to save a forum thread? It would be good to start collecting all of the threads so if they delete say 10, they there is proof something fishy is going on.

This one titled "Wide flat 19 or normal flat 19?" is still there ...

Yeah, well what can we do now?

Making posts doesn't help at all....

Should I make another thread, but make it completely different or something?

I honestly don't care if I get banned on that forum, seems pretty crappy to me... But I really don't want to give the WSGF a bad name in any way.

There is not much more you/we can do ... you could post in that "Wide flat 19 or normal flat 19?" thread ... if it slips down the board ... reminding buyers of widescreens of the post Johnny made.

Or we could keep asking which monitors to buy, since they aren't deleting those questions.

To be quite honest, I think this is something of a lost cause. Epic obviously don't want to listen. I wasn't intending to buy UT3 unless it was 1) cheap and 2) goddamned awesome... and eye candy is not awesome. Lots of games do that. I actually want some gameplay again.

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I believe that the Mods over at the UT3 forum are just gun shy of another fracas similar to what transpired in the Bioshock forums. The whole vertical+ thing rather exploded and made quite some noise.

So maybe all is not lost with UT3. Also, has anyone checked out Roboblitz? Isn't it based on the Unreal 3 engine? Someone told me it was correct Horiz+ format.

Roboblitz is Anamorphic, so they either covered up the Vert+ with black bars... or they did do it right.... But made everyone use 16:9.

I'm worried about Mass effect as well...

Lets hope it all turns out good in the end.
