Bioshock: artistic vision - or not as the case may be

Post by JohnnyWakko »

Wow. That thread has over 100 posts in just over 12 hours. Geez they are slow to reply, either that or they are waiting for the full game to come out.

Hey paddy, is it true that you were getting worse FPS with the widescreen that the 4:3? Or was cause your 4:3 was apart of your TH2G BEAST?

Well the widescreen shot was at 1920x1200 but scaled down ... the 4:3 shot was only at 1280x1024 ... hence the better fps.

The game ran fine with everything at maximum at 1920x1200 on windows XP ... I get significantly lower fps with Vista and the latest drivers for the game.
The DX10 stuff I suppose slowing it down a bit but I haven't tried DX9 in vista yet.
I am also begining to think my vista is messed up a bit ... I have had a ouple of crashes ... when not in a game ... :?

The game ran pretty good in TripleHead with everything at max ... 3840x1024 ... all be it the FOV is messed up.
I hope Racer_S can fix the FOV for us TripleHeaders ... and everyone else if 2K don't ... :D

Hmm, well, Rainbow Six Vegas was fixed with a patch, but first 2K Boston has to accept that there is a problem before they fix it. I don't know about others, but the game is less appealing to me by the hour because of this.
The Vegas patch did not fix widescreen correctly ...

Apparently there is a "FovAngleDegrees=75.000000" setting in the file Default.ini

Anybody tried adjusting this yet?

But does the game running in 16:9/16:10 feel too zoomed in? I heard a few people complaining that it felt like that.

It plays pretty well, and it didn't fell zoomed in to me the first time I played it... and I just played it again and it was fine, but theres still the feeling of knowing its Vert-.

@ JayRW ... please could you post those screenshots and the fact that it is the retail version here ... http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4883

The devs need to know that people are not happy about this especially when the lead programmer said ...

Wow. Paddy is famous. I just hope that all of the fame and fortunes don't go to his head. When he is doing lines of cocaine off of virginal breasts, I hope he takes the time and remembers his buddies at the WSGF.

I love the line:

"Hit the link below to read the full 2K forum thread, filled with disturbingly rational discussion and cool heads. Seriously, it's almost spooky."

This is getting WAY more attention than other games that have dropped the ball. This will only help the cause.

It's nice to see that widescreen gamers are more mature about this than the normal teenage-emo Battlefield fan would be. (And that we have the moral high ground over our nay-sayers. ;))

AND it seems he hasn't even played it as it crashes out when he tries to play ...

Take a look he is very amusing ... http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=118631#post118631
