When i run bf2 with the shortcut, i have a message of the OSD "out of range" and after i'm on the menu of the game but it's all stretched and it's on the default parameter( 800*600 blablabla...).

Did you remove the video.con file?

in fact i removed the entire profile.

It seems that in-game the models of the game (weapons/car,buildings, so all the graphisms...) are not stretched but the HUD (weapon bar, mini map, life bar,...) is stretched!! And the resolution seems to be really in 1680*1050.

Does the HUD is stretched for you too?

(excuse my bad english , i'm french  )

I have a question:

I can get widescreen to work fine by appending the info to the executable for BF2. This also works in Special Forces. But, when I launch BF2 (as opposed to Special Forces) and then decide to play a Special Forces map, the widescreen option does not work and it reverts back to stretching the resolution. This also happens if I launch Special Forces and then decide to load a non-Special Forces map. It is annoying because I have to restart the game using either executable to get the widescreen to work.

Anyone know what is causing this and if it is fixable?

Thanks

Hi newbie to widescreen here.
Just ordered samsung 215tw 21inch 1680x1050 arrivng 2mrw (thurs), previously been playing on 17inch lg l1710b.
I've read the stuff about editing the command line to get to run at 1680x1050, and that bf2 just crops the top/bottom off the image etc etc.

But since i've previously played at 1280x1024 will i be "gaining view" if I play at 1680x1050 with my new monitor ie the extra width - or will it just stretch the same image i had at 1280x1024 and I still lose some of the screen top and bottom?
if so is it better to play still at 1280x1024 with black bars?

Also i read in this thread that BF2 is designed for 4:3 aspect........
does that mean that i will be able to play in 1400x1050 (ie 4:3) on my new monitor with black bars - (which would look nicer than 1280x1024 that i've been used to)
does BF2 support offically 1400x1050 as a resolution?

any help would be greatly appreciated

With any widescreen res you will not be gaining view of any sort in fact you will be loosing view from the top and bottom. (the width stays the same)
If you play with any 4:3 res you will be able to play it stretched to fit or with black bars without loosing any view.

Here are 3 comparison shots ... click em ...

4:3

4:3 stretched to fit 16:10

If you play on non Punkbuster servers there is a new tool to alter the FOV adding view to the sides and not cutting the top and bottom off ... ... :D ...
Find more info and get the tool in this thread ... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/6535t=0

Hello again,

my Sm215tw arrived. i was able to get bf2 working at 1680x1050 using the command line. But I'm unhappy with losing the top and bottom.

As I posted above i would be happy playing at 1400x1050 - within scope of my monitor - but I see no option to select this on BF2. Only 1380x1024 or 1600x1200 (which obviously doesn't fit my screen).
So I used to command line to set to 1400x1050 - but the game just crashes to desktop.

I Noticed that in ATI CCC 1360x1024 and 1680x1050 are supported but NOT 1400x1050 - which is what i want and think I should be able to play at (with black bars of course)

Does anybody know how to had a custom res ie 1400x1050 to ATI CCC 6.8 ?
I know Nvidia forceware has the option but is there a similar feature in ATI CCC ? I cant for the life of me find it?

So for now i'll play in 1360x1024 (i slight improvement over 1280x1024) but I want 1400x1050.

Any ideas guys - thanks in advance

BTW the Samsung sm215tw is a great monitor :D

Works for me

I used both the shortcut hack and the FOV exe file hack together and it works. :)

The 1920 x 1200 resolution doesn't show up in BF2. It doesn't matter.

Hi,

This is my first post.
I got a Samsung 940BW TFT (my first TFT), I set the BF2 resolution paramater via the shortcut properties (1440x900). Everything works fine so far.

But i need 75Hz.
What do i have to do to get 75Hz instead of 60Hz ?

greetz,
Johnny

Why do you need 75hz? I say you are fine with 60hz since we a talking lcd technology. It will do just fine whether it is a fast pased FPS or just desktop.

Because the speed sensation in games suffer from it... It feels like you are going slower... I am stuck with 60 hertz since this LCD can´t do 75 hertz but if you run racing games and others you really benefit from running 75 hertz if you lcd can handle it :)

I'm sorry, but wherever you dreamed up that little nugget is so out of whack it isn't even funny. In fact, this is misinformation pure and simple.

The refresh rate has absolutely no effect on TFT panels. Seriously. Go use Google. Find out.

I have to use Vsync enabled, so my fps stuck @ 60fps. Thats why i need 75Hz :) But its already solved, refresh rate override did it.
