AussieTimmeh, thanks for the DR update. Are all SP anomalies unchanged though ?

Can anyone take new comparison screenshots using the fix ?

Post by sear »

I get the following error using the latest version of the plugin:

When I click "ignore" I can get to the config menu, but resolution and screen count options are greyed out (and blank). The fix works in-game (Origin version) but the FOV option does not work (seems to use 130 no matter what I set), and the error concerns me. Running Windows 7 x64 with all relevant updates installed. Other games Widescreen Fixer supports do not give me any such errors.

Have you tried to ignore the error and disable automatic detection in the config of the plugin and manually set it up?:)

When you update Widescreen

Post by dopefish »

When you update Widescreen Fixer make sure you overwrite every file. A lot has been changing with the API between revisions. Whenever there is a new version always replace the old files.

Thanks for the quick replies! Unfortunately I'm not sure the advice will help. I haven't previously installed Widescreen Fixer (newest version is the only one I've ever used), and turning off automatic detection doesn't help - the screen count and resolution boxes are still greyed out.

EDIT: Never mind! I didn't realize the plugin came with the newest version of Widescreen Fixer, and had been installing an outdated one on top of it. This version works just fine. Sorry about the mix-up.

Hello I can get this to work

Post by SCHUMI_4EVER »

Hello I can get this to work just fine but I'm not sure of what FOV to pick. I'm looking for something just a smidge more zoomed out than the default is. 130 (which is what widescreenfix is automatically set to) is way too far out and my character ends up tiny. I'm a using a single 1680x1050 monitor (which is manually set up in the configuration).
So what should I set the FOV to? And if you don't know then could you at least tell me what the game's default FOV is so that I can work my way up from there?

For a single screen the FOV is about 65. However, it's about what feels right to you. Just grab the slider and drag it lower to a value you find acceptable.

I know it's about personal taste but I just needed some sort of starting point so thanks :)
If anyone knows more specifically what the default FOV is rather it just being around 65 then you answer is still welcome as well though.

Post by inmyrem »

I tried quite a few settings and one that worked great for me is indeed odd for single monitors, but it works great for me whether I'm using 3 or just 1 monitor. My settings are 170 for the FOV, uncheck automatic, display set to 3, resolution 5760 by 1080. Here's the odd part, go into the game, enable it, load your game, run forward a few steps for it to kick in, then disable it. The screen pulls back farther when I disable it and the distance is just right for how I want my view. Granted, everyone has their own personal preferences, so some people may not like that view. :)

I said about 65 because it's not a consistent number. It's a float and it's usually somewhere between 65-75.

Oh I see sorry. I thought you were just guessing when you said about 65.

So 75 would be the zoomed out running about the place and in combat view then? And 65 the stationary zoom when just walking or jogging around the place normally?
So if I set it to 75 (since I like that level if the answer to my first question is yes) it would now float upwards to 85-90 when in combat or running?

Hmm...if the above turns out to be true that would give me pause then since whilst walking around the character feels a bit too in my face (which can remedied a bit by running in 16:9 1600x900 but since dialogs are Vert- that bugs me a bit)...but when running or in combat it's just about perfect (unless I manipulate the camera angle by fighting close to a wall) and I wouldn't want to alter that one bit, at least no on the first playthrough.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to leave it on Automatic and 130 FOV the first time I tried to run it and it felt like I was going through a Freelancer Warpgate since aside from a small circle around my character everything was warping inward so I'd highly doubt I'd like 170.

But you only had it set for 1 monitor. Try the settings I listed and see. I initially thought it was crazy to even try, but it worked great when I have to use only 1 monitor.

Post by dopefish »

The easiest thing to do is just put in 1 display count, and then your actual resolution. If you have one 1920x1080 display, then put 1 and 1920x1080, (automatic should fill this in just fine). Then just set the FOV to 75 or something.

Congratulations and thank you for this great fix.

I started playing the origin version of Reckoning yesterday in a custom resolution ( 4096*768 - 4112*768 bezel compensated) and all seems to work great including the quest log

Guys wondering if you could help with a weird issue. The fix works great in game (much Thanks), but during in game cut scenes I get a really weird issue where I'm only able to see just the top portion of the screens across the three monitors. It's just a band that covers maybe 1/4th of the top portion of the screen and you cannot make out at all what is happening in the cutscenes. Anyway to fix this? Again the fix works great in game, but the cutscenes are still competely borked. I don't mind if it's stretched but I can't see what is going on at all.

Thanks.

I'm using win 7 64bit, and a single monitor, the start CTD every time I cross halfway in my character's home in adessa.
I already tried with the plugin turned off, and it ran just fine, but when I'm turned the plugin on even if I turned back off, the game still crash, every time always in the same spot.
Anyone experiencing this?

Okay, it seems that this game hasn't been tested here at a screen res of 3240x1920
The FOV fix thing works (not that i need it) but the quests menu is broken still, even with the fix and even with a screen res of under 4000 wide.

methinks the height may be an issue too.

Please look into this if you can!
