And everything works, but I"m getting some performance issues.
AMD 64 3200
1 gig of ram
6800 GT
What are your BF2 settings? Also, kick up the ram another notch to 2G's and you'll rid yourself of the stuttering and some of the perf drops.
Without knowing your BF2 settings, we can't really help ya. I can tell ya this much. When I had a P4 3.0, 1GB, and a 6800GT, my settings were 1280x1024 and no AA with textures, shadows, and lights on medium to get a nice smooth rate.
hoi, i got a little problem
i'm playing BF2 in 1920x1200, and want to enable Vsync
but there's my problem, in all normal 4:3 resolutions vsync is working perfectly(60fps@60hz), but everytime i want to use a widescreen resolution i got exactly a maximum of 100fps - and then i got horrible tearing :(
is there any way to really force vsync regardless of the resolution?
(im already forcing it with the CCC of the 6.2 catalyst drivers ("Always on") but that doesn't help)
i've even tried to set the resolution and refresh rate with DXTweaker, but also no effect :(
Changing the command line to the "+szx 1680 +szy 1050" solution no longer works for me, although it worked fine until:
a) I upgraded the patch to 1.21 and
b) I upgraded my nVidia drivers to 84.21
I now get a very wierd 4:3 picture moved onto the left hand side, a bar of prvious details on the right hand side and some of the graphics not displayed properly :(
Wish i'd have done one at a time.
Anyone else have a similar picture?
Basically, i had left AA in nvidia settings set at "8x" rather than application controlled, and in BF2 I only ever have 2x, so it just clearly overloaded frame buffer (or some such part).
Try it! It's kinda fun....in a crappy upsetting way.
(PS my graphics card is 128MB AGP)
MSIC, you can always delete your last post in a thread as long as noone posts after you like I did now. If you want to delete your post just press the X to the right of your post.

Will do, but i thought i'd leave it for other people to see in case they faced a similar problem.
I was just wondering if there's anyone here who is running a res of 1680x1050 or higher with the highest settings and still gets >50 FPS? . . .
I am currently using 1680x1050 with all the in-game settings turned up to maximum. But if I set AA and AT to anything above 2x then I get 30-40 FPS for most of the game. (That's with the system in my signature.)
I'll be adding a second 7800GTX in SLI but I still don't think I'll be able to run 8xS AA and 16x AT with 1680x1050 and get decent FPS. . . . Is this sort of an unreachable goal? :(
Oh yes, and one more thing . . . has anyone tried this tweak mentioned by Jodiuh . . .
+widescreen doesn't fix the FOV as far as I know ... but why not try it yourself ? ... :?
Honestly, I wasn't sure how exactly to compare the results before and after using the tweak since you have to restart the game. Do you just use single player mode and then try to reorient yourself in the exact same position each time to see if the display is cut off? (Or maybe use mult-player and find some deserted part of the map?)
By the way, for some reason single player mode always causes the game to crash for me. :(
I don't have it installed at the moment to try it ... but you have the right idea ...
What I would do to get the comparison screenshots (multiplayer or not) would be to go inside a building and stand tight into a corner of a room then I align my crosshair up on to a distinguishable point in front somewhere ... may be where a vertical and a horizontal cross.
Take a screenshot ...
Then ... this time with the +widescreen ... I'd go to exactly the same room and line up the crosshair with the same point as before.
Compare the screenshots ... 8) ... let us know if things are fixed ... may be even post the screenshots so everyone can see what is going on ...
Ok, I tried it. It doesn't seem to work. Here are my screenshots. (There's some slight differences like I forgot to use the same kit and one screen has some text, but you can still easily compare the borders.)
Here they are . . .
Using +fullscreen
Using +widescreen
And just for completion, here's the same shot with no widescreen tweak. Just 1280x1024 selected in the game.
But the fact that the game even started up with +widescreen is surprising, itsn't it?
