Would the 'shortcut fix' discussed in this post, work with a panasonic AE900 projector? The projectors native res is 1280x720.

by 'work' I dont mean give me proper widescreen, which I understand isnt supported, I just mean could I get that chopped off view, which although not ideal still looks playable to me.

Thanks
:)

EA seams to be one of the worst companies when it comes to listening to the comunity and support for its games. The funny thing though is I have more OLD games that support Widescreen then I do new games lol. Also EVERY other game I have can be easily hacked to support my 1680X1050 res except EA games. WTF is wrong with them on a Sanity scale? THey keep faking up and expect different results with each game.

Sigh.. I do miss Westwood, Janes, the old Maxis, etc...

I just wanted to say "thank you" for the widescreen solution for BF2. It worked perfect on my system at 1680x1050 on a 21" Gateway! Before this I was limited to 1280x1024 because that was the highest the game offered. Now I can enjoy the full resolution that this monitor is meant for, and I can definitely notice the quality difference. (I can personally live with losing a little bit off the top and bottom, although I totally agree that EA Games should support widescreen so we don't have to be penalized.)

Anyhow, thanks again. I'm looking forward to using many of the other solutions on this website. :)

I haven't tried anything yet, but I'm assuming you've still got FOV issues? Are they really even issues tho? I mean, does it bug you?

BTW, I took the liberty of blowin' up you sig cause it's mighty worthy!!

Revivalist's sig:

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but this page suggests using +widescreen for proper FOV. Any takers? I can't install BF2 til tomorrow.

Hey guys. Thanks for the welcom. . . . Sorry about the sig, I didn't even realize I did that. . . . But at least it made for a good laugh. :)

The Raptors cost about $120 each on Ebay. Yes, I know it's expensive, but the performance is unbeatable. Games load like there's no tomorrow . . .

As for "FOV issues" I'm not sure what that stands for. If you're referring to the chopping off of the top and bottom of the screen, no I don't personally notice it so it doesn't bother me at all. . . But I'm not a super hardcore gamer who might pick up on something like that. I'm just really enjoying the quality of native resolution. It's wonderful. :)

:? 480 dollar on a couple of harddisks.
I know they are stable and stuff but i wouldn't buy 4 of them.
I would only buy 2 of them as a bootarray.

Four gives twice the sustained transfer rate as two. (linky) . . . These things eat BF2 maps for breakfast.

Hello. I've been lurking at these forums for a while, and just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping me get BF2 up and running on my widescreen. Now though, I have a problem myself.

I have a Gateway FPD2185W. Its native res is 1680x1050. Awesome screen, but I"m having some issues with BF2.

I set my target line for BF2 shortcut to:

"D:EA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

And everything works, but I"m getting some performance issues.

AMD 64 3200
1 gig of ram
6800 GT

And I"m getting some sluggish performace. I have the latest drivers and all, but when playing the game, it skips alot. Seems like I"m getting massive drops in FPS at times. Anyone else having an issue like this? How can I go about fixing the problem? Any help would be much appreciate it, thanks!

Well you do have to remember that running a game in a higher resolution will take a hit on it's performance...I suggest lowering some of your quality settings. (AA is always a good one to give you more frames)
