API conflict error

Post by apomerans »

Tried using Old WideScreenfixer to work-around the API issue, but using that my menus completely dissappeared. Tabbing blurs the screen but no menus are visible... Has anyone had that issue?

Thanks in advance

Hi guys,

Seems we have an answer from Bethesda on the wide screen gaming issue!

In a recently opened thread about WSG a mod posted this: 'Use this topic please.' and linked to here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1340144-eyefinitysurround-ui-issues-merged-similar-topics/. The link also got locked.

Then the mod locked the linked (merged) topic having pointed at it - see: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1340144-eyefinitysurround-ui-issues-merged-similar-topics/page__st__60.

Note that in answer to a user post saying 'I tried to start another thread just to get their attention. They locked it as I was expecting them to do. It would be nice if someone from the team would just give us an answer. ' the moderator replied;

'It would be even nicer if you posted in the correct thread as linked last time and not restart closed topics.'

Obviously, this mod thinks it is OK to treat Bethesda customer queries or complaints as petty and the multi monitor issue as trivial. This is apparent in the actions of this mod.

EDIT: Seems pointless to me to post about the WSG again over at the Beth forums - Any chance of WSGF contacting Beth directly?

If this is the official line from Bethesda - it stinks - we can kiss any hope of an official fix goodbye. :(

So, thanks Bethesda - way to treat your customers and loose at least one in respect to future purchases.

NEW EDIT: Yet another mod has got involved and closed another WSG thread with the post;
'The suggestion that people spam the forums with new threads rather than keeping the discussion in a central location is not appreciated.

You're welcome to voice your support in the existing thread, but please be more considerate of the forum rules. '
WHAT AN INCONSIDERATE IDIOT! We cannot reply to the existing thread as those guys have locked it. No wonder we are not getting an official fix with fantastic thinking and attitudes like those shown by those mods. It makes ya wanna scream at Beth - 'learn something about customer relations!'

^it honestly doesnt look like he meant to close that second thread.
the first one links to it and he says "post here"

being a mod (elsewhere), ive done this before, you have a bunch of dupe threads and just get confused.
a pm to him saying "my bad i shouldnt have made that second thread and wont make a dupe again, you said i could post in xxx, but then you closed it, can you please open it back up" might do the trick.

of course since you posted in the thread "i made another thread to get their attention and they locked it as i suspected".. you might have pi**ed him off.
in which case he might not reopen it..

Have done - without reply or result. I'm just seething at this attitude these mods seem to have.

EDIT: Was not my thread BTW! :) 3 threads over at Beth central now locked and though this may be accidental, it looks very bad. Will be interesting to see how my request to reopen the (merged) thread goes. I am more than willing to admit I was wrong!

It appears I may have been a bit rash. After editing my pm to one of the mods involved, it seems the matter is being looked into. The mod asked my to contact another mod (shift rotation it looks like) and if the issue is not resolved then the mod I have been in contact with will get back to it ASAP.

I just hope it is my rashness as apposed to the seemingly bad attitude of the other two mods!

Right then, time for an update!

Yes I was rash.

Yes the thread has been unlocked (with a pm'd apology!)

And, yes, it is frustrating as heck still not having an official answer from Bethesda. :(

Any who, gonna keep the game play on one monitor for ease while using CK. :)

I sent him an email too. Anyone have the official email address for feedback at Bethesda for this game?

When trying to find the email

Post by skipclarke »

When trying to find the email address of someone at a company, the way to do it is to take the person's name and match it to an email address you can publicly find from the company. This person's name is Erik Deitrick. The thing to do is to find the format of the company's email system. The best place to do that is in a press release. Company press contacts often have their name and email address at the bottom. You can find out the format used by the company:

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
etc., etc., etc.

I tried looking up press releases for Bethesda, but all I found were these at bethblog.com

http://www.bethblog.com/category/press-release/

They are listed, but none of them have contact information at the bottom. The contact page there redirects to bethsoft.com

http://www.bethsoft.com/eng/contact.php

Which simply has a form. Bethesda is owned by ZeniMax

http://www.zenimax.com/contact.htm

But there are no email addresses either. Best I can do at this point is to try and call them and get through to either that UI designer and possibly the Executive Producer of Skyrim (whom we sent our awards to). With this community and Google, maybe we can find the email format.

This tactic comes from an article at the Consumerist about launching an "Executive Email Carpet Bomb".

My favorite quote from Mr. Deitrick's post...

"Beyond that I like working with the artists and designers to implement the cool stuff that they come up with. I also like having a final product that I can point to after all of the hard work, especially one that a lot of people enjoy."

....Personally, I like his menus.

His menu's are fine, as long as they scaled properly for eyefinity that is! (which they currently don't)

You can put me down for $20 as well for some source from Hayden.. I bet the number will keep getting bigger too. C'mon man, if life is busy, we get that, but why not let someone else help, especially if you're going to be well paid for it?

The pledge update for Hayden

Post by htm2112 »

The pledge update for Hayden is as follows:

2 @ $50
1 @ $25
3 @ $20
1 @ $10

That's $195 pledged so far for Hayden's fix. Who's with me? Post any amount you are willing to pledge in this forum and I will keep track of it.

Fix or source? I'd really love some community work on this, maybe we could keep up with Beth destroying out work that way ;p

Make it $25, just so it's up to 200 ;p I'd give more, but I'm pretty damn broke...

You have to be kidding me if you really think this guy uses this e-mail for anything other than junk mail, free naked pictures, and porn subscriptions!

I am not a fan of Bethesda on this game design but in reality they have the right to create and support this game in any way they see fit. We are a very small handful of people who really want to play this game on multi-monitors and it doesn't make much marketing sense for them to commit resources to support this game in the capicity we want. It does boggle my mind that the company itself wouldn't want to see or play this game internally on multi-montors however. This really is the part that surprises me the most. I just can't believe they aren't using multi-montiros to enjoy their own creation to it's fullest internally and if they do have a solution that allows them to do this internally it would be a true shame not to impletment or deliver it to their customers. Either way, this part just blows my mind.

Other than that I have my own fix with the help of Helifax's fix and some other peoples work that is getting me by. I wish I knew what tools HaYDeN uses to create and package his fix and I would put time into learning how to do it myself if someone pointed me in the right direction but I just don't know how to package a fix the way he does.
