Well, lloks like TESV.exe

Post by alphadogg »

Well, lloks like TESV.exe just got silently upgraded to 1.4.21. I also have skse_1_4_21.dll in the pile. The fix refused to run saying "version is not supported". Anyone facing this issue? How do you solve it?

(Sure wish the fix was open-sourced... as a professional developer, I could probably tweak it.)

Yep, the new patch is here and the Ultrawide Fix by HaYDeN does not work as it doesn't support the new version. Anyone have a clue how to resolve this issue?

I had the exact same issue

Post by fortismilites »

I had the exact same issue with Hayden fix However the CT tables from helifax worked completely fine. Windows 7 64-bit Skyrim patch 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 ATI 5870 Cat driver 11.10 and 11.11. Vanilla no mods fresh install verified cache etc etc. If Skyrim is the issue why isn't it happening to someone else? More likely than not we have something conflicting with it. It seems most people who have this issue either give up or don't report back with their solution. Not like it matters, I was forced to update to 1.4 and steam backup utility is broken. Man I hope bethsda knocks off the crap and releases the dev kit, and even more hopefully they allow us to edit the menus.

Had what exact same issue? i run win7 64x with a 5770 and 12.01 drivers, everything works GREAT.
one of the main features of the 1.4 update from bethesda was to add support for the mod tools.

Of running Haydens fix and Skyrim CTD before the logo with the fix saying everything worked fine while helifaxes CT tables worked flawlessly.

And as far as it working on your rig thats my point exactly for all defensive purposes it should be working and its not and no one can figure out why some people it wont work.

people... check Hayden's version history and you will notice Hayden need to update the fix for every new version of official patch.. all we can do now is wait...

man... withdrawing from Skyrim is harder than I thought... I tried to play it with the broken menu and stuff... it only lasted me for about 15 minutes...

please please please... let's pray and hope Hayden is looking into this at this very moment....

there is nothing defensive about a purpose. Its " For All Intents And Purposes ".

but you are correct, it should work.

In theory, to disable steam updates is simple;

Open steam library - right click skyrim and select properties - select updates tab - under automatic updates select 'Do not automatically update this game'.

In practice though steam resets this option and goes ahead with the updates for many users.

Some / most Skyrim users (depending on what you read) run steam in offline mode to counter this issue. It is reported though that as soon as steam online mode is reactivated the updates option resets and again the updates start downloading.

I have read many posts on various forums about this issue and most people affected negatively rightly (IMHO) complain that either the option is broken or that steam want control of what updates we use - regardless of our want or need to control our own computers (to a degree). Other users sing the praise of the update feature and give arguments for how good the feature is and that it is supposed to update skyrim no matter what the user wants. I ask; why give an option to not update then ride roughshod other the users preference? The answers to that vary from uninformed through fanboy to outright rude!

Anyway, it seems you have the right idea by keeping backups and using them till fix is found by one of the 'modders' on this forum.

Minor edit for rewording

Has anyone tried the SkyUI

Post by Lev_Astov »

Has anyone tried the SkyUI mod since 1.4 came out last night? The new version of the mod, released last night, claims "Support for exotic resolutions. Tested from 800x600 to 5760x2160." I noticed an option for odd UI resolutions when I was installing it last night, but I got distracted before I actually fired up the game. My odd 8:3 aspect ratio was in their new options, so I'm quite hopeful. Aside from that, SkyUI is fantastic!

Updated!!!!

Post by helifax »

Hello all,

I have updated my fix for Skyrim. Now supports the official version 1.4.21 that was released public on Steam (not the Beta versions). I maintained the same safe code like before, which means that the game will not CTD if you use the fix. All the information+download link are in the Detailed Report!. However if you have problems with this fix, please don't hesitate to let me know;))

Best Regards,
Helifax

PS: Enjoy again the latest version of Skyrim in Surround/Eyefinity :D
