Ultrawide support is coming mid to late July, confirmed by Jeff Kaplan earlier today.

I just downloaded the latest PTR build which includes some of the features of the upcoming patch. Here are the results for ultrawide support.
21:9 resolution with 16:9 picked as aspect ratio. FOV 103.

21:9 resolution with 21:9 picked as aspect ratio. FOV 103.
Vert - (?)

EDIT: Here's a comparison between a beta build with the hex edit vs the 21:9 option currently in PTR.

Jeff Kaplan (Game Director on Overwatch) made a comment on the subject:
We do not plan to increase the max FOV beyond 103, in any resolution. As a result, this doesn't leave us with a lot of options for 21:9 support. I know this is not the answer our 21:9 players want to hear. But we feel like it would be unfair to 16:10 and 16:9 players if 21:9 gave a substantial FOV advantage.
An incredibly poor showing from Blizzard.

What a load of bullshit. They may as well cap the FPS at 60 while they're at it so no one with a 144hz monitor will have an advantage with smoother gameplay.
I'm willing to try an FoV hack if someone can make it. This is progress nonetheless but I think we can get to where we want.

Buy a 16:9 monitor, cover the top 1 inch of it with tape, bam you're playing 21:9.
Thanks Blizzard! Bunch of morons.

That's a joke - we gotta at least see the same amount. Now we see less.

Blizzard really fails hard at supporting ultrawide. We fought with them for years to properly support it in WoW and they never cared.
This "support" they've added with vert- scaling is a friggin insult.

Guess we need a FOV hack now.

Had someone login to their account on my system to see if 21:9 was any good and if I could finally buy Overwatch myself. It didn't look right so I came here to check/confirm. Ugh, I can't believe how sucky they are being about this. Of all the things to be sticklers about, a little FOV boost, really???

So.. free weekend is here, now everyone can try it. I did, and I got nauseated halfway into the training mission and had hot flashes by the end of it. Attempted to play a bot game and I had to exit it by the end and felt absolutely terrible afterward to the point where I had to go lay down due to feeling like I was thrown in a tumbler.
Been any development on the 21:9 front (ie; fov fix) since this 'support' was implemented?
Spent the last few hours trying to search the internet for a way to modify the game to get into Hor+ either via a hex or memory edit, have come up dry and I'm not a coder or reverse engineer so it's a futile effort to try and guess myself.
Threads are still going on the official forum about this, and Blizzard are still silent.
