Do you or does anyone else have more to add to this particular discussion?
How much revenue do they make a month on WoW?

Well let's see.
~10 Million subscribers (ten second Google Search)
*$15 each.
= ~150 million dollars income. Not calculating expenditures.

Oh my. I think we are a little low there.
Let me rephrase my question. Which game has the most money, time, and dedicated personnel available to it in the world?

I don't see any more constructive critique or discussion. How does the grade end up?

If that's the end of the discussion, and there are no screenshots demonstrating vert - FMVs, then it's certified.

All the FMVs are simply .avi files in a 16:9 ratio. Max resolution 1024x576.
Seeing as we don't grade ARs wider than 16:9, then it should be certified, as lesser ARs are simply letterboxed.

Just a FYI tho, The game may now be Hor+ (which is a massive improvement, I used to get so frustrated a while back, been using the TH2G digital since launch w/ wow). Anyway everything is fine and dandy EXCEPT chat bubbles and nameplates. They still currently render in a Hor- setting (in otherwords are 3x as huge as they should be) and currently there is no default means within the interface to scale these down to "normal" size (that I know of). If you know how to fix this to make it truely hor+ let me know.

You could try something like Aloft http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/aloft.aspx

Can we get a screen shot so we can understand how bad the issue is?

I didn't think to grab one. The chat bubbles are big, but only in TH. I found them annoying in general, and turned them off.

I'll have to check that out, however that will only address the nameplates, not the chat bubbles. And I think the "idea" of the clasification for games is under a "stock" situation, not requireing addons / hacks to achieve the desired result.

Ask an you shall recieve.
These are all at max-dolly:
3840x1024
1280x1024
1280x1024 inset at 50% transparency ontop of the 3840x1024
(Which also represents the middle screen in the TH layout)
As you can see both the chat bubbles and the name plates grow substantially in the TH res... Now as I said I'll check out aloft to attack the name plate issue, and I know ppl may say turn off the bubbles, but I prefer to have them since I have my normal chat way off on the left screen, so I like the bubbles so I can catch things that are being said around me, since it will be right in front of my face.
So I'm not so familiar with how all the classifactions go, and what contributes exactly, and how much each aspect is weighed. However this def. seems to be a lingering artifact of the old Hor- way of doing it.
PS-just as with the suggestion for aloft, if anyone knows a way to attack the chat bubbles w/o just disableing them, that would be huge for me.

Certification for games doesn't require them to have perfect Triplehead support, or any support at all. The game is widescreen certified, so maybe further TH discussion should take place in the TH forums, rather than on the DR. Any solutions found can of course be updated in the DR.

As I said I was unfamiliar to what degree things are classed, and I was only posting my findings that I didn't see originally noted. However I will say any resolution higher then 1280 on the horizontal (in a widescreen ratio) causes the nameplates and chat bubbles to grow. So for example 1920x1200 (which is not TH, but def. widescreen) will have enlarged nameplates and chat bubbles as well, though not as large, as with TH since they are only 150% bigger vs 300% bigger with TH.
So let me clarify what I'm saying to avoid confusion, the problem isn't isolated to TH, however since it has the largest Horizontal res, it will always exhibit the most noticeable difference, as such with Hor- situations. the bigger the horizontal resolution, the more "zoomed" the stuff in the middle becomes and the more noticable cropping at the top and bottom (Or in this case since nothing is getting cropped, it just makes them huge).

At the same time as you said the same thing affects even large 4:3 resolutions such as 1920x1440. Which would not affect grading at all.
Try the Aloft thing though, If it does what you want for the nameplates there might be something that lets you change chatbubbles too.

Alright, I had not tested 1920x1440 so I can not comment on what does or does not happen at such a resolution. However having experience with the entire game since launch when it was Hor- (pre ~3.0 patch that made it Hor+), I know that 5:4 (1.25) ratios and 4:3 (1.33) ratios everything (nameplates and chat bubbles included) always rendered perfectly regardless of how high/low I had the res. but when I used 8:5 (1.66) I
always had this same issue of chat/nameplates growing.
Again I have not tested this, but if I had to speculate, I would guess this hasn't changed and at a 5:4 or 4:3 ratio everything would be the correct size. In addition now with the game being Hor+ even at 8:5 and higher aspects, the enviroment renders correctly (rather then esentially not allowing you to dolly out as far as you should when it was Hor-, giving the effect of everything being bigger), it is still exhibiting the same old artifacts that I used to experience in the past with the enlarged elements in 8:5 (1.66) or higher ratios...
again, I'm not questioning the classing or grading at all, and I would agree that WoW now should be cert. I'm simply posting something, very minor and non game breaking, but none the less does happen that I believe wouldn't / shouldn't in a game that was 100% Hor+.
And as for aloft, I ended up having to use a fan-updated beta version located on wowinterface.com because the original author of aloft has since disapeared... As such is the case when you depend on an addon to do a task that should be buit in... you are at the mercy of another individual, and if they quit playing, so does their added functionality they brought, and you can only hope someone else will pick up the torch. But you never know how long that will last either.
Either way tho the fan-updated beta of aloft did fix the nameplates since I can now scale them back 300% and they are the apropriate size again... But I have had no luck finding anything that addresses the bubbles  ...
PS - Sorry if I'm being a pain, I've been a huge fan of this site since I got my TH2G, and use it all the time when making game purchases. I've lurked for a long while... However when I saw the post not mention something I've know about existing for years (regardless of how minor it really is  ), I felt compelled to sign up and post my findings.

Not at all. We tend to get very picky on DRs, especially on popular games that aren't 100% totally perfect. It is odd that the issue has grown in scope to any resolution over 1280 wide, where previously it was only an issue in TH. But, if it effects resolution (4:3, WS or TH) above 1280, then it shouldn't impact our grading. Thanks for bringing this new issue to our attention.
