Sixshot, I know the MMO Runescape has part of the world as free to play and you pay to unlock the rest of it. I am sure there are other installed ones that have this model.

Yes but their model isn't advertising. Their model is the people that get addicted and want to dominate and get ahead faster will pay to buy xp stones and what not to either level up faster or sell to other players to purchase expensive equipment instead of playing the game to purchase said equipment.
