What about using something like this to get 3 monitors out of each display port?

http://www.accellcables.com/products/DisplayPort/DP/dp_dvi_multimonitor.htm
http://www.accellcables.com/products/DisplayPort/DP/dp_dp_multimonitor.htm

looks like the max resolution is only 3840x1024 out of these boxes though :(

This is due to the ATI Driver. This is pretty much a DP Edition TH2Go. Notice it says "Typical." If nVidia came out with a card, the limitation would be gone.

I wonder what's the maximum?

using eyefinity 6, that figure could be doubled, but HD5000 only have 8192x8192 max pixel on single GPU

when you are using th2go you aren't limisted by 8192pixels

I saw one guy make 6x22" panorama 10080x1050 on one card + 2x th2go

I think the bottleneck comes in with the maximum display output size of the graphics card. Because the video card may not like outputting to 2560x3 sized single dipslay.

For some reason 4096x4096 comes to mind as a limit but maybe that has changed recently.

I think the 8192x8192 is a DX9 Limit. I remember hearing that when eyefinity was first announced.

I run all these resolutions in DX9 actually, SoftTH is limited to DX9

Well it's the theoretical limit anyway.

EDIT:
10.6 not work in 3x2 mode , immiadately BSOD
10.4 cant oprate even 3x2 mode
10.5 works GOOD (but need to instal completny new OS or make super clean of old drivers if 10.6 was instaled before)

technically I got 8400x2100 res in 2D

but after when I want run dirt2 and grid, I saw only when dirt2 logo flicker @ main screen and softh @ side screen. After few hours of modify softTH cfg file, I got still the same situation, so I decided to make little experiment and I change resolution to lowest - 800x600 /per screen - stupid I know, but I cant any other option to do so:
1680x2100 + 5040x2100 + 1680x2100 @ 800x1200 + 2400x1200 + 800x1200
so instead 8400x2100 I got 4000x1200

dirt2 run without problem @ first try on the same settings as before I cant run game on 8400x2100
so for now I am totally screwed and dunno wtf, I will try next week in other games

also this is a pic of 4000x1200 (stretched and not look good, but point was - run 10 monitors @ softTH 2+6+2

I used hd5870 2gb e6 + hd5450 + hd5770

I've never used SoftTH, so this may be a dumb question...

Could you use SoftTH to get 5x1-P off a single Eyefinity6 card? I have two E6 cards in CFX. Would be great to run a 5x1-P off the CFX config. If you can't, I'm guessing I could use the two cards?

Based on all the cards I have for testing, I could even run the E6 in CFX for three monitors, and then use something else (such as an original 5870) to drive the other two.

I'm really tired of waiting for the 5x1-P driver, and wonder if SoftTH might give some sort of work-around...

Really EVERYTHING is possible with SoftTH. SoftTH is a simple DirectX-Proxy-DLL. So you can define the resolution which the game shall render (for example 7431*3679) and then configure the monitor positions (exact pixel-position, which makes perfect bezel-management possible). There is no limit how much monitors you can use, what resolution they have (every monitor can use it's native resolution), or the constallation. You could run swastika-style if you would like it...

But can it be done off one video card? Every configuration I've seen required multiple GFX cards.

if the videocard provides enough ports, of course!
as you know, 5870 E6 can drive 6 monitors. do not use eyefinity but leave all screens in normal extended mode.
thats it.
