CPU seems to affect the minimum FPS if that is what you mean. Normally when stuff needs to be loaded, or something like that, the CPU has to work a bit to help instigate the loading of textures, and that more often causes the reduced minimum FPS.
However!
At higher resolutions sometimes going to SLI/ Crossfire improves the minimum FPS also. Dunno what to say really... the 5870 is a monster card by any stretch
