I have used a TH2G for 2 years, and the only problem i have had was 5040*1050, serious issue though. When i ordered a 5970, new gforce drivers gave me the possibilty to run the haunted resoluion!, Anyway, my gtx295 crashed and burned, and the huge red brick arrived.

First issue was Displayport, i will not specify my problems, but try google, you'll be reading for the rest of the week.
Second,Drivers.... bad stuff, flickering screens when on desktop,no manual fan control, artefacts in 3DMVantage,Various games crash,I still think this will be solved when drivers mature.
Third, I was quite used to Matrox Powerdesk, i miss it! Ati has hydravision,at least i think, as CCC will not let me use it,this will be solved, again, with new drivers, i hope....

This all said, i kinda miss my TH2G, BUT, the sheer power of the 5970 and DX11,and the fact that i can run 5760x1200, make Eyefinity my new friend.Unless future drivers will remain buggy offcourse.

I pick option #3, sitting on the fence. I'm waiting for my pocketbook to recorver from the projector buys and TH2G digital is working great for me at the moment. I also want the EyeFinity driver capability to mature a bit more. It's looking more like my next card will be a 6870, not a 5870. While I find having a good entheusiast quality video card, IMHO I already have that in place and most thigns still play good.

Having owned both TH2go (now sitting in a hall closet) and Eyefinity (currently struggling with bugs/inability to select reasonable resolutions), I can assure you that both suck in their own, unique ways.

But would you play without them? Shouldn't you say that they are both good in their unique way?
Professional... well I'll figure that out.

I play on my triple setup using only SoftTH. Which also sucks in its own, unique way :)

I'm actually looking to upgrade to a TH2Go. All of the issues I've seen so far regarding TH2Go were because of its limitations running 5040x1080. Considering I'm only running 4320x900, I haven't really seen any downsides.

You're right, it doesn't have any. It's rock solid, has bezel management, couldn't ask for more. The only limitation is the resolution limitations, and of course, it's a bit more expensive than an Eyefinity setup.

I certainly would - and do - play without them. Although I'm seriously considering dragging my old TH2go digital out from the closet just to see if I could finally get it working at 5040x1050.

The issue I'm having with Eyefinity is, ironically, exactly the opposite of what hobbles the TH2go: The resolution (5760x1200) is too high. Games run poorly with what I consider to be reasonable image quality settings. And I don't consider anything less than 60fps to be acceptable, in the sense that I'd much rather have a single screen at 60fps than a triplehead setup with significantly less.

I just finished testing Dirt 2, and at 5760x1200 you have to dial the image quality so far down to get 60fps that it just isn't worth it.

Try the latest firmware and PowerDesk 2.06. I haven't had an issue getting 5040x1050 from it, but the caveat on that is that I am running Nivida cards. You hear of mixed success getting it with an ATI card.

Actually here is the scenario... you buy the 5870 2gb you play for 8 months a better nvidia or third party card comes out and you switch over now you have 6 monitors and a new video card that has only 2 ports.. hmm well that stinks...

I modded 6 22'' monitors and ran 2 x Triplehead2go on youtube you can see, took me one night to build the entire 6 monitor setup and 5min to get it working in xp, most dont know that Matrox actually supports multi TH2GO units now and gives you the firmware and drivers for it...

I can write up a full review if you guys desire... but...

now i can use ANY future card even the 5970 which will NOT have eyefinity 6 to push these puppies.

I will reduce the horizontal bezel this weekend i have it down to an inch with my monitor modding.

Here is the youtube link if the link doesnt work go to http://www.youtube.com
and do a search for valorboundstudios

Dang dude. Anything below 60 fps is unacceptable? I'm fine with 30fps for anything but trigger happy, twitchy online competitive play.

I am not using Eyefinity for gaming, but for running a multimedia show over multiple screens.
Does anyone have any experience in using the two technologies together?

consider using an Eyefinity6 with 6 DH2GO DP edition for 18 screens, or cheaper, the new flex card from sapphire, with 3 DH2Go digital and one DP edition for 12 screens. Multimedia heaven, if it works....

sorry this may be a bit off topic but i have been searching in this forum & found nothing. does anyone have more info on the new flex edition card from sapphire? anyone using it already? how is it compared to the non flex + dp to dvi adapter? reason i ask is that i am currently building a new rig and considering the flex...
