Bit of a commute from NZ, but next time I'm there.....

Thanks for the res files scavvenjahh, really nice.

Silly me... I think I need to make a new file for 5040x1050 in DX9 mode
I basically just "updated" the same file with various Surround res's. Since I couldn't get 5040 to work in Win7 at that time, I totally forgot about the default DX10 mode and how it wouldn't work with TH2G DE...
I'll fix this and keep you posted.
Sorry guys ! :doh

Hey thanks, looking forward to this solution.
Edit: It seems well have to wait for patch #2 :

Code: Select all
â˘DirectX 9 or 10 selection will now be available using the "-nod3d10" launcher parameter.

GFWL validation of patch #1 took forever, so don't hold your breath.
Anyway, the
stupid "click trick"to force DX9 mode actually works, so I can play RFG in DX9 at 5040x1050 in Win7. Care to give it a try ?
Download:
http://www.4shared.com/file/245513505/25d88842/RFG_5040x1050_DX9.html
Usage:
Extract the file in My GamesRed Faction GuerrillaOptions and replace the existing file.
Launch the game and immediately
click your desktop; if all went well the game will run at 5040.
If you failed the game will run at your "second best" res, but the file will remain intact so you can just exit and try again.
Detailed settings of the profile:
5040x1050, default refresh rate, no AA
Ambien Occlusion, Sun shafts: OFF (DX10 features)
Shadow detail, DOF, Motion Blur, Particle Detail: ON/MAX

[quote]Edit: Scratch that I checked it against mine, I wonder why the pairs are saved the wrong way around. Ether way its worth pointing that out, they will also need a hex editor of some sort so a url to a freeware one would be useful.

Little Endian ;)
Huh, for some reason I always thought it was called Reverse Endian. Oh well, learn something new and all that.

The term is from Gulliver's Travels - the Lilliputians crack their soft boiled eggs at the little end, but the people in a neighboring kingdom crack theirs at the big end. They both feel very strongly that their way is the correct way, to the point of political tension and possibly war, not unlike the European holy wars that had occurred in recent history.

Patch #2 is out, it fixes DX9, btw your file works fine too at 5040x1050.

Great stuff. Too bad the patch doesn't fix the resolution issue, though.

Yep, you still have to force it, and 5040x1050 appears as "640x480" in the game menu.

Hi all!
I'm new to the forum and my pc sucks, I know it, but I can't play at 720x480 (16:1016:9 I'm not sure which one is) because the game doesn't detect the nvidia's custom resolutions.
I tried hex edit it but I don't know what line and numbers to change, so I ask if someone can make me a file with low settings, 720x480, 60hz, and the hud scaled correctly?
I'm playing at 640x480 at 59hz and nvidia only scales it right at 60hz that is my laptop's monitor refresh rate, so the game looks very distorted and I can't aim right because of it.
Thanks everyone.
By the way, sorry for my bad english. :hide

720 : 480 = 1.5
Your aspect ratio is 15:10 ;)
I don't have the game installed right now so I can't create a "low settings" file. There is also no known way to correct the HUD...
Here's a couple things you can try:
- use
this config file (720x480,
high settings)
- or delete your current config file and launch the game. It should start at your native res with default settings.
Don't change any in-game options or the game will default back to 640x480 !

Could someone help me? I have a hex editor (hxd) but I have no idea what I am supposed to edit, and there is no pre-made setting file for 2560x1080.

Set in-game resolution to 1920x1080. Quit. Open rfg_display_options.rfgs_pc in the hex editor.
We want to replace 1920 by 2560:
1920 (decimal) is 780 (hexadecimal) formatted as 80 07 in the file.
2560 (decimal) is A00 (hexadecimal) formatted as 00 0A.
Search for 80 07, replace with 00 0A. Save changes. You'll have to do this again if you change graphical detail settings.

Amazing! Thanks for the help! Thought I could handle the black bars: I could not. Thanks for walking me trough it.
