I got it - since my "My Documents" folder has been relocated to another drive - hence another drive letter - and that file was indeed located in a subfolder in THERE I couldn't find it on drive C: !
It's located @:UsersDocumentsDrakensangprofilesdefaultprofile.xml .
There I could edit it according to OP's description and now Steam's Drakensang works @ 2560x1440 flawlessly! :D
