Help me choose a new computer display

That's not why it was so cheap. These are nit pick questions I have. The monitor I believe is great, I'm just seeing if what I'm observing are LCD characteristics or monitor flaws. I've never had an LCD monitor before, I've been a die-hard CRT fan for years and years now.

1) Some degree of corner light bleed, esp if it's minor on inexpensive displays, is common.
2) If you mean shiny, that's common and probably due to a glossy screen finish. If you mean it looks like it has a slight rainbow effect like oil on water, that isn't and may mean you have residue on the screen. Sometimes the sheet Styrofoam packing rubs off a bit on the screen, but it has to be removed very carefully. My guess is it's just a gloss finish though vs matte.
3) This is no doubt the color/contrast shifting VA panels are known for. Some brands/models do it worse than others. Though you won't be able to adjust it out, focusing on what your game character sees in front of him and using your peripheral for everything else is going to minimize the effect.

That being said, now that there is a brand that has 24" IPS monitors (Hazro in the UK), I really hope someone like DoubleSight will make one too. It would probably cost under $500 USD. I've seen the Hazro 24" IPS for 340 pounds, which is about $509 USD, and it has an aluminum shell vs the plastic DoubleSight uses.

Not shiny, greasy looking. Like someone wiped their forehead on a piece of glass would look, except the whole screen appears this way. Depending on how I set my eyes, it's more noticable. If I look at the screen and not what's on it it's very noticable, but if I look at the image it's less so (If that makes sense).

So not so much oily like rainbow color banding, but rather a sort of wet wavy look? Keep in mind not all gloss finishes are the same and can react badly to the room lighting you use if it isn't indirect and creates glare.

No, there's no rainbow coloring on anything. I don't see how there's glare, it's positioned to where it has minimal glare. I don't have any direct lighting on it, it looked this way last night with all the lights off and just the monitor being on so I really doubt glare being the culprit of this effect.
