I'll see what I can do. I'll try to do a FOV fix at first. Since you can get the correct aspect ratio by setting your desktop resolution, that won't really be a primary goal for the fix. I'll have to pick up the game to start work on it.

Wow, are they serious? I bought BioShock without realizing it didn't have widescreen support, good thing I waited this time before shelling out the cash... No buy until they get proper Hor+ support in.

can you give us a hint in general about the concept of finding FOV values in memory..?
i tried to search for initial unknown value, then when i zoom in using ironsights, i search for decreased value etc. and i assume the value is ranged between 45 and 90. but then, at the end, i'm still not able to find it and modify it... can u tell us some tricks?
i have somewhat OK hacking skills.. i might be able to see what i can do so taht all of us can play with true HOR+ wide screen and Triplehead asap! :)
thanks!

The FOV is not always based on degrees.
Battlefield, for example, uses 1.0 or 1.1 as the default FOV.
I use MHS and Ollydbg to figure the stuff out. MHS is used for finding things in memory, and then Ollydbg is used for tracing it back to its origin.

ic.. thanks,
but how would u know what to search for..? do u also use the decrease/increase value trick to find the address?

Yeah. Forcing a value to change is the easiest way to narrow things down.
Zoom in = decreased value.
Zoom out = increased value.
If you're using 16:10, search for 1.6, or if the float isn't accurate enough, just try a range of 1.5-1.7. Change resolutions and search for differences. There's a lot of things that can be done to try and narrow it down.
You have to keep in mind that even if you find the value you're looking for, 99.9% of the time that's not the end of it. Finding the value is the easiest part. Everything else that follows is complex and difficult.

Doh, yeah.
I've been trying to filter things out in a better way but it's not working apparently, hehe.
You should be able to access it again.

Hahaha, Paddywak that second thread of yours on the Ubisoft forums has gained some sweet traction. Lets all hope its gotten enough attention to warrant a quick fix so we can play this game in our preferred resolution modes!

Thanks :) Been a lurker here since I first bought the triplehead analog edition last summer. This site has been an invaluable guide and source of fixes for surround gaming. I've added a massive rant on the xkcd forums as well about this field of view issue and the rest of my experience trying to get farcry 2 to work yesterday. That site gets massive hits so hopefully it climbs the google search quickly too.
ED: Hahaha, its actually #1 for "far cry 2 field of view" :D

Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm a dumb ass but when I change my desktop rez to 1280 X 1024 to use a single monitor and then set the rez to the same in the game settings, the game starts in a window and I can't seem to maximize it at all.
I'm really hoping that I've totally overlooked something. Please help :(

I kept having the same problem everytime I changed the rez in-game and hit 'accept'.... small black window with music playing.
The way I got around it was to edit the profile GamerProfile.xml in your My Games folder (at least that is where it is in Vista). I actually changed the resolution in the two places I found them in that file and that fixed it for me.
Hope that helps,
Wazoo

I saw the resolution in that file 3 times ... changed them all to desired rez, then changed desktop to 1280X1024.
Started game, same thing, opens in a window .... fully playable but in a small box ... LAME !
Thanks Wazoo ... Any other ideas ?

Any other ideas ?
It works for me without going into a window so I haven't tried this but how about changing the ... Maximized="0" to ... Maximized="1" in that config file ?
EDIT ... use alt+enter to switch to windowed mode and back ... :)

Just want to throw in that during the previous attempts prior to RACER_S's glorious true fix I was messing with that gamerprofile file and ended up in a situation where the game would load in 3840x1024 but the game play was relegated to the left panel each time, making me manually toggle the resolutions on each load to get content on all three screens again.
I managed to do that by setting the Maximized to 1, once I turned that back to 0 life is good and the game naturally loads to full triple and displays across all three again by default.
Just in case anyone else was doing the same and met the same situation.

Thanks for the ALT-ENTER Shortcut ... I should have remembered that from my FS days but didn't, anyway, thanks again and even better now I see there's a fix :)
