Well, I played on the WSGF server for a short time earlier this afternoon, eZ` joined too and totally owned me. I lost count of the number of times I died, and only managed to get one guy once.

We did end up going to a 'noob friendly' server at his suggestion... but after two minutes of hearing others rant down microphones I got tired of it and went and did some cooking instead.

...and managed to set what I was grilling on fire...

lol :D
Right that's sorted then ... you should be a Pyro.

Paradigm, go to options and hit voice tab and just disable voice chat, moronic pests disabled, when you come back to our server, reenable it

I might get on at about 9PM CST (3AM GMT) if anyone wants to play

I played tonight with Packerfan, DaFox and Malakius. They can all attest that I need a lot more practice. But, I had a good time. I hope everyone else did as well.

Youch. Packer... at 3am GMT I was safely in the land of the sleeping dead.

(Apparently there was a big police chase down my road last night - some boy racers being idiots - did I hear a thing? No, I did not. But then, I honestly think I could sleep through Armageddon.)

You weren't bad, in the time we played I think you improved quite a bit

Virtually no lag with pings of 100-120 the whole time, I think TF2 might be a good game for me because the textures are so basic my graphics card can easily handle them, other source games like HL2:DM with pings of 60-70 I lag a lot.

@Paradigm, that was me throwing out an invitation however I mostly expected US people to show up, I have to mow the lawn later but if you guys name a time I can work around it.

Were you guys playing on the server I allocated or another one? Need to know if those pings apply to me or somebody else.

Seems to range from about 75-125 give or take between players on his server.

Not bad at all, I was playing with 250 ping last night because of my internet. And aside from dieing a few times after i had run around a corner, and someone stabing me from 3 meters away it was fine. ping really doesnt mean that much in TF2.

Lower = better. But if everyone is around 125 tops, that means it's only a quarter of a second (250ms 125 for each player to the server and back) for actions to be seen by one another. So not bad at all. Now if it was 250 or higher, we're talking half a second to a second of delay of when you fire and when he sees it.

Actually, my math is bad, it's less.
Say you have a 120ms ping, and I have a 40ms ping (my max on the server).

You fire off a shot, the ping is round trip, meaning how long it will take you to see your shot rendered on the server. So it's actually half that for the time it takes the server to render. 60ms. Now half of mine is 20. Which means you fire, 60ms later the server gets it and renders, 20ms later, i see it and get hit, that's 80ms to shoot me. Although it still takes you 120ms total to see you're doing damage to me.

..

Im pretty sure he understands the concept of ping, he just doesnt know whats decent or not on TF2. Some games you could play with ping in the thousands and it would still feel decent (im looking at you world of warcraft!) While other games its painful to play with more than 100 ping.

Not sure how I missed this thread, but I had fun playing with you guys (Though no-one spells my name right  ) Think my ping stayed between 100-150, so not too bad. Hope to do it again sometime soon.

If that keeps up, we can either up the number of players and/or password it so that WSGF folks are the primary users.

I think this would be reason enough to load a Q3 server

Never played Q3, but this looks awesome. Very surreal...

Wait... what? Full? You're bullshitting me... I already UPPED the player count to 24... and it was FULL?! GAH!

Was this monday when you posted or was this sunday? Correction: I upped the player count sunday early morning (6am EDT). So, yeah, was that sunday you were being bumped out?
