FOV Slider only goes to 100.... ! it's fixed but, hmm.. not fixed then. 100.4 for 16:10 and for those who want to play through 16:9 HDTV FOV needs to be higher still (not to mention triple screeners)

SWEET widescreen support is working.... cant change the fov in the menu since the slider doesnt work but you can change it in the ini and it works fine.. also it seems the weapon doesnt get cut off anymore... so this is true hor+ for everything

My game arrived ...
I tried the beta patch ... and ... errrr .....
The patch adds a slider to the menu and sets the default FOV to 90 ... presumably 4:3
So ...
16:10 should therefore be about ....... 100.39487232
16:9 about ......................................... 106.270273206
TH (3 x 5:4 ) around ........................... 140.896364001
BUT the slider only goes up to 100 and this is the maximum I can get out of the game.
I have tried various ini changes but I can't get the FOV to go over 100.
BTW ... to get the slider to actually work I had to delete my config (UTGame.ini) and let it make a new one.

well its just a beta patch... i wont complain... it works at 100 which is close enough to 100.4 so im happy

Hmmmm ...
Not sure I like the "I'm alright Jack" ... it is close enough for me, attitude ...
That is exactly what was wrong in the first place ... it's all right for 4:3 ... "I'm all right Jack" ... it is close enough for most people.
I want it right for everyone ... :wink:
BUT ... yeah lets hope it is just because it is a beta patch.

But it doesn't reset anymore? WOuld be very easy to fix it then. Not for me tho. I'm not really active making any patches :)

Under the User Interface changes:
Added framerate smoothing and FOV options to the advanced video menu.
They do not give any kind of date for release. For now, I suggest the solution mentioned here. I'll continue to dedicate some time to fixing UT3 with my program, but I may be wary. If the solution they implement into the interface completely eliminates the need for a fix, then my time and effort will have been wasted, but I'll see.
I already posted this on the last page :) and you could download it from unrealnorth yesterday, not sure if the links are taken down. PW says to delete the .inis to get the slider working but you can still .ini/console the FOV command and it sticks though is limited to 100. A 'partial' fix/workaround for 16:10 but not for 16:9 or 3X users.
Oh and I think looking at it, your fix may still be needed so don't pack away those coding fins/flippers yet, limited to 100 isn't cool... even for 16:10 which puts you at 'almost standard' but some prefer higher anyway.

Worked it out!
Delete the old UTGame.ini, UT2003 will make a new one. Slider now works, but is limited to max of 100. (I have a widescreen monitor) open the file for editing & scroll down to here:
[PlayerFOV UTUIDataProvider_MenuOption]
OptionSet=AdvancedVideo
DataStoreMarkup=
OptionType=UTOT_Slider
RangeData=(MinValue=80,MaxValue=120,bIntRange=1,Nu dgeValue=1,CurrentValue=120)
and edit the RangeData line, MaxValue= I set mine to 120
I also edited the line OnFootDefaultFOV=
that seems to all work nicely!

Yes you can set the slider to
read anything you like but the game is capped at 100 ... :(

Here is a Mutator which allows FOV's up to 130 ... for online play the server must run it too.

Readme ...
Add the mutator when starting a game, as normal. With it running, open the console (press TAB for the quick console or F10 for the full console by default) and type mutate fov 90 (or whatever your desired FOV is in place of the 90) and press return.
The value you last set will be saved in the INI file so that it can be appplied next time you run the mutator.
The FOV value is a client-side setting, so if you join a server running this mutator, you will get your own chosen FOV.
The allowed values for FOV are 70-130o. Values above 130 are disallowed because the camera starts to clip, allowing players to see through walls.
