hey there,
i've decided the easiest way to deal with this is to send you a free copy of the game for PC, that way, you won't have to bounce around for tech support ever again.
can you send me your full name and address and i'll overnight it to you!
Got a response after posting on the 2K forums about it. Hopefully the DVD version works. However, its still not what I wanted... I wanted the steam version specifically for the convenience. Still not going to buy 2K in the future, unless I hear of dramatic improvements in their support :/

I just don't understand 2K. They could spend just a couple of days to release a patch for some of the issues and more importantly for the FOV issue. Instead they prefer to not to anything, ignore people and lose in future sales.
Who runs that place, the Politburo?

Well, the DVD version works fine... but I really hate swapping disks so I always rip the disk to an ISO and mount it with daemon tools whenever I want to play a particular game... works great and it will give me back some of the convenience of the Steam copy. Except not in this case;
one last surprise from 2K
How irritating do they have to make this? So any backups I do make are worthless too, since they can't be used to play the game. Might as well uninstall the legit game, delete my new ISO and use a pirated one, as it won't force me to use the disk. Annoying. At least one of the legit copies I have actually loads now :/
Any enjoyment out of this game is going to be negated by the hassle of the past several months. Maybe a newer version of D-tools can trick Securom. :roll:
Guess that about covers it.[/thread]
