Halo 2: Hypocrit Edition

You said yourself

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OS: Windows Vistaâ„¢

So there isn't written Windows XP on it anywhere :?

I understand that their brand of "Games For Windows" currently says for XP and Vista, but as of yet, these are just guidelines as no such game exists.

And your second point is such a ridiculous comparison it doesn't really hold much standing.

I think you're so intent on hating Microsoft that as soon as they make one anal error on a preliminary campaign of a service and branding line yet to be launched that you go straight for the jugular.

How about we wait till the whole thing's "Live".

I'm not sure what's written on the package, i just got that from the website.

What do you mean no such game exists that can run on XP and vista?

Flight Sim X? Supreme commander? Company Of Heroes?

If that's the case....that's a really obscure statement.

I got the game today... I'm too new for a detailed report, but the game supports a lot of widescreen resolutions natively (like 1680) and the FOV seems fine so far.

The game is REALLY ugly though. It looks worse than the original on PC somehow, in my opinion. Everything is really muddy and blurry as hell textures are EVERYWHERE. There's some nice bump-mapping stuff and the cutscenes aren't bad, but the game... ugh.

Oh, and there's only two video options for performance/visuals, AA and "enviornment detail." Expected for a console port but lame all the same. Major V-Synch issues as well with no in-game option for it.

Blah.

EDIT: Actually now that I look at it, I think it's Vert-...

Seriously, I don't get why any PC gamer would want to buy Halo 2. Even Doom 1 is a better game than Halo on the Xbox, and the PC port of Halo 1 really sucked, it probably won't be much different this round.

I bought it because I liked Halo: CE on the PC. It was far from amazing but it was a good FPS.

I think PC gamers feel the need to bash it because it made FPS popular on consoles.

I just finished Halo:ce and Halo 2 for the first times... I have to say I wasn't really impressed... it was good for a while, but damn they have really repeatitive levels.
The story is ok I guess, and thats why I played them... to get the story for when I buy halo 3 on the 360.

I still dont understand why people think the game is like the best game EVER!!@!!.... it has ok action elements and the story is farely decent... but just in general, its another random shooter that was overhyped really.

I love the Halo games, No its not the best FPS out there but its up there in my top 3. Half-Life series is my top spot. I dont get why so many people hate halo. To be honest Playing Halo and Halo 2 Co-op was probably some my best gaming moments ever.

Oh great, bad graphics, vert-, and hypocritical branding.

I cry for Microsoft's future in PC gaming :(

Because it's overrated and creates stereotypes of video game players (little kids who scream "noob" into microphones for example).

I dont hate it man... hehe, I played both games through... I just expected it to be better for the scores etc, it got. It seemed unfinished in alot of spots to me...
But I have to admit I didn't get to play the multiplayer, which I guess is where the most fun was.

I have never played halo... any of them lol.

Seen it tho, looks like it may be fun online.

I dont like how MS is making PC gamers pay to play against console gamers online. MS has been incredibly money hungry latley or atleast its showing alot more with all the law suits and stuff.

You can play pc to pc for free tho.

it probably wont be a bad game, but I dont see it giving any competition to the big dogs like UT3, and all the others. Maybe the one thing that would have given them the edge over the main FPS games would be the cross platform gaming, so say you could play your little brother on his Xbox360 while your on your computer agaisnt some other guys online. However charging for that service nulls it out.

I think there's a lot of arguements to be made about Halo not being that great... it certainly looks poor graphically and is obviously balanced for consoles. I just like the grand sci-fi military story with bombastic music and cinema flavored cutscenes... it works on a certain level very well.

I agree it's far from OH MY GOD BEST GAME EVAR but it's certainly, for me anyway, a good FPS.

They patched the game already by the way, I had an auto-update when I loaded it today (the only way to recieve patches as far as I can tell).

You can force 1440x900 with Art Money. The relevant addresses are 016AA7D0 for height, and 016AA7D4 for width. Works fine for me at least :)
