Update - I'm well into the game and I'm around Level 7. Really enjoying it now. It's everything Oblivion wasn't (to me anyway). Some great dialogue, funny characters and intriguing gameplay.

Got used to the cameras, so that's not as big a deal. They were not intuitive to me initially.

Graphics look far better further on in the game than they did at the beginning - perhaps it was just the locale (I won't spoil it by going into details).

So yeah - I would not hesitate to recommend this game to anyone!

It's definitely a better game than the original NWN, which until the addons I felt had no 'life' in it.

Does that annoying male 'friend' at the beginning (whats his name? Bevil?) remind anyone else of an overweight, scaredy-cat Carth from KotOR?

I like the extra character depth during creation, too. :)

Overall, I think this'll be a good game if they manage to fix the performance issues. Which I have, but pretty much all I've tried so far is everything right at max (which, lets face it, shouldn't be too hard for my gaming rig) so I'm not going to go into a great deal of detail with them at the minute...

Dude, I was thinking the SAME thing. He even sounds like him. I kept saying "STFU Carth!" in my head everytime he opened his mouth.

I love the game so far. Yes, there are a few techinical issues but nothing that impacts gameplay. In due time they will be resolved and the game will even better.

I watched the credits, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of Raphael Sbarge (aka Carth), so i don't think it's him. Probably just a guy who sounds a lot like him.

got the game today and not played for that long but must say that it looks promising.
Only bad thing is that i can't put my 2nd 7800GTX in action. WEhen i activate SLI all the sound in NWN2 is screwed with lots of "clicks" "squeeks" and "plops" :(
This kind of crap make me want to throw out those two 7800GTX cards and get a 8800GTX, SLI is giving me too much problems with games lately :(

Interestingly, performance on my gaming rig (fully patched) isn't any better than on a different rig of significantly lower spec when unpatched. :? These patches don't seem to be doing an awful lot...

New beta 1.03 patch out now.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Other.Detail&id=39

Apparently it improves performance significantly.

Also adds AA - sweet! :cheers

Been playing the game all day with the 1.03 beta patch. With shadows on medium I can play the game at 1920x1200 with 4x AA on my 2405. Got a 3007WFP on its way, so it'll be interesting to see how my 1950 XTX chokes all over most games at 2560x1600.

Around 20fps. Sometimes a bit lower, sometimes a bit higher. Sounds horribly low, and it is, but as much as I lay on the space bar to pause and issue orders (since the NPC AI is so lovely) the low frame rate really doesn't bother me that much.

Enabling AA didn't seem to hit performance much at all, either.

With the 1.0 out of the box version i had around 16-19 fps @ 1920x1200 with high shadows. With the latest official patch the perfomance did not improve anything and from what you say with the new beta patch the performance still doesnt improve performance at all or very slightly.
20 fps is not playable imho. its like playing the game in slowmotion all the time. With this game and games like oblivion you dont need 60+ fps but 30 fps should be the minium to have a nice gaming experience imho.
Only thing that worked for me to get to the >30 fps is to change the resolution to 1600x900 or 1280x1024.
In the end i think the engine is just not optimised for SLI setup (at least i hardly see ay performance increasement with SLI enebled instead of dissabled) and i doubt that a patch can change the engine in such a way that SLI is better supported. Guess the engine is just too bulky for today's hardware ;)

I am really interested at seeing the kinds of performance an 8800GTX has with NWN2.

Any of you 8800GTX users have this game?

Be aware that the SLI profile is incorrect by default. You have to switch it to include: nwn2main.exe. Otherwise it does not enable SLI.

Nvidia screws this up more than they should.

I made my own profile and got SLI working. The game engine just doesnt make full use of the capabilities of SLI (as many other games)

There certainly are some issues to contend with. I havent suffered anything to be upset about though. The game has a ton of potential. Something to look forward to.
