It's impossible to set accurate release dates for large software projects in advance. They mostly get delayed not only because the developers / publishers try to be optimistic, but also because software engineering projects involve a lot of research, and one can merely guess how long research takes. That's why a lot of game companies don't bother setting release dates anymore.

So yeah, sorry for sounding kinda rude, but this list is kinda pointless and also inaccurate. Some of the dates are just outdated estimates made by retailers (who don't know more than we do). WoW: The Burning Crusade, for example, got delayed to early 2007. :(
