Tomb Raider - Legend, finally a good Lara Croft game?

I don't mind the tits, but I hate laras's voice-overs - all games have stupid sounding voices, but...

And on the main topic of this post... Yes, the new Tomb Raider game looks so amazing if you ask me. I've got it pre-ordered at EB and all paid off, with the guide too (I always buy the guide even if I don't use it). I'm so psyched for the 11th :D

She's hot huh. I don't mind her getting a photoshoot in Playboy. :lol:
She's only in the new movie though, the voice of Lara in the game is by a Holywood actrice.

uhmm..take a look at the screen shots..she looks like crap! Definetly not as poly heavy as todays games and damnit, she NEEDS them more then any one else. I laugh when people go on about here well endowedness... dude..shes SQUARE!

Croft has been around for a while and as a character.. MANY like her, imo this game is a sad reminder that they are still too stupid to give her the cutting edge engine and high resolution model she so deserves.

Have you watched the HD trailer over at Gametrailers?
You can see she definatly looks WAAAAAAAAY better then she used to do and that means NOT square.
I also saw HDR lighting (or atleast bloom) really pretty water effects (waterfals), bumpmapping and a lot of other effects i don't know the name of.
I really disagree with you that the game didn't progress visually.
Offcourse, i don't know if the gameplay also changed but i do know the game will look good.

I used to love Lara's voice :) It was well sexy! Not sure if i like the new one as much...

These vids do look cool though, im glad they seem to actually be in a tomb as opposed to a city/underwater station/opera house (well most of the time anyway).

The HDR and particle effects look very good, i wonder if its got proper physics though, or if everything is scripted again (im guessing scripted).

The vid looks like its from the 360 (i noticed the press "A" prompts). I wonder if theyll put the same work into the PC version? I guess ill just wait to read a comparison of them :)

That video isnt very high resolution, and my porn on my pocket pc is at higher bitrates, its not something I would throw much faith in, especialy since its all by "sactioned" staged shots scrutinized to do nothing but praise the game... bit its not perfect.. because all in one shot I found a whole buncha flaws in the model.

As you can see.. her knees, ankles, and elbows crush pretty badly. I'm ignoring lighting here because nobody is doing full self shadowing yet so lighting is screwed with that spot light on her chest.

Using the lighting, you can see how badly modeld her legs are. Considering her legs are prolly her second most pronounced feature, I would have expected these to be flawless.

Here face seems fairly good however, infact to good. Scanning all the latest screen shots, i noticed her face has lots of polys, and textures like her lips are really sharp, then you look down and it is fairly clear her clothing is low res textured.

Also I am fairly certain the game is just using glow, not HDR, because theres never any over brighten scenes where the light is shining and the background is blackened out. The background lighting in the movie stays constant. Also NOTHING is shiny.. we get glows from dull reflections and sunbeams, but nothing shiny reflecting light.

Sure the game is an improvement on the last, but Im expecting more these days.

Omg... I want to buy an XBox 360 now...

Hehe, you know this actually would make the list for the worst looking xbox 360 game too.

Well, i admit it doesn't have FEAR or Oblivion looks but there are loads of games that aren't as pretty as those two.
Take for example The Godfather, i think it looks like sh*t but that doesn't make it a bad game.
Also, I watched this interview between a Gamespot reviewer and the producer of the game where the first thing the reviewer said was "the first thing yu notice when you start the game is how it looks, it's just so beautiful".
I think that has to say something. :wink:
Also as you mentioned, the videos aren't of very good quality, so maybe the good looks of this game are a littlebit lost in these videos.
All i can say now is, we just have to wait for the game to be released.

Graphics look pretty good, my PC will laugh at me if I try and run that game though! Time for an upgrade me thinks!

I enjoyed the first game, don't think I played any of the others though? Maybe the second one, but all on the PS1
