I wouldn't stop gaming in widescreen for anything, though. :D

Cannot agree more.

Wow I just did about 6 matches in the arena, that was really cool!
I'm having trouble though because I find in TES games if you are a typical, heavy armor, bigass sword and shield warrior you can power through everything, but I'm a sneaky khajiit and I get into trouble easily if more than one person attacks me at once.

SPOILERS
I just went into Kvatch after closing the first gate and boy, about 3 flame atronachs and 2 scamps came after me and the 3 imperial dudes and we got owned :S

MORE SPOILERS

Yep, me and the captain were the only ones that survived that assault, and he was unconscious. :P The stealth build reminds me a little of playing my stalker in CoV. Big burst damage up front, but if you don't kill your target, prepare to be pounded.

Yeah this game is far more challenging than Morrowind was, and I didn't anticipate that and figured I'd be murdering stuff as easily as I did then...

I kiind of regret going pure stealth now, but oh well, I think I can handle myself.

I'm thinking about getting this game, but I don't think my system has what it takes to run 1920 x 1200 :( Do you guys think I'd get decent framerate with a single 256mb 7800gtx + athlon x2 4400 + 2gb ram?

I am running at 1680x1050 on my system (check sig) and have everything turned on other than AA/HDR and I get a constant 25-60 FPS which, for some reason, is still playable completely in this game.

Not sure what makes 25 FPS playable in this game but I am not complaining.

I think tonight I will play around with the settings some more and hopefully get a higher constant rate.

Any comments how the controls on the PC version are? Ive heared people mention that its obviously designed for the 360 pad, especially the fighting?

The controls seem ok ... proper strafing etc...

but ... I can't seem to find a way to assign things to my mouse buttons ... :? ... anyone got an answer ?

I have a Logitech Mx518.

I'm not sure what you mean Paddy... I have the same mouse, but by default the mouse buttons were attack and block. Are they not for you?

Edit: Do you mean the side buttons?

Yeah the side buttons ... I want to assign them to Run and Sneak.

Edit ... I found the answer ... I was being a bit thick ...

In controls choose mouse at the top then you can assign the buttons ...

I found a really good way to get an impression on how the game is.
At Gamespot they had a 12 hour marathon of a reviewer playing Oblivion.
Here is a link with a movie of the highlights. Really good way to get an impression.

So, what are you all playing as?

Class: Bad-Ass <--- Really funny, it was like, "Are you sure you want to be a Bad-Ass?"

Race: Breton
Sign: The Mage <--- Call it a n00b choice, I don't care. I never have liked messing with advantages and disadvantages.
Major Skills: Blade, Heavy Armor, Restoration, Destruction, Mysticism, Alteration, Speechcraft.

I can fight my way through anything. Snipe with a few target spells, then hack away.

Woooo!
This game rocks! gfx look great!

The game auto detects the settings for you, and it recommend high for me.. (don't know why cause my system isn't really that good) but it runs good on 1440x900 , it has AA on 2x, no HDR (you can't have hdr and aa on at the same time :? ), and I still have a pretty good fps. You don't really need a high fps though, it's not a shooter.

To everyone that doesn't have this game yet, GO AND GET IT!

My dear friend, you MUST try Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel. I hated RPGs before I played through those two games.

...and I don't call myself a Star Wars fan either.
