Does anyone remember the first Windows 95 game ever? It was a console conversion too.. Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure.
What I don't get is this: Vista's probably going to be quite a few bucks... why not get a bloody XBox and Halo 2 for that?
XBox = £80
XBox Halo 2 = £35
Vista = £300?
Vista Halo 2 = £40?
I think I'll go the XBox route if I'm that desperate...

I dunno, i just won £10 on a lotto scratchcard, he's gonna have to sell a few more 360's to get away from me!

Well, i'm gonna get Vista anyways since i can get a lincense through work for free.
So there is not a big problem for me there but i can imagine lots of other people who want to play the game but don't want to convert to Vista.

For gaming I will choose XP but I will try Vista as a desktop computer.

With Vista's rather larger recommended requirements compared to XP, I cant see gamers benefiting from it...especially if the OS doesnt free the resources it uses so the games can use them instead. But given I havent used it yet I could be completly wrong, and I hope I am. I would like to see Vista improving gaming but for some reason I dont see that happening.

But MS is trying to make it a decent gaming platform. When you start a game all the flashy and unnessecary stuff is turned off so you can get more boost in-game.

Was it really? Christ thats a long time ago!
I think the first windows 95 game i had must have been....damn i dont even remember, it must have been pre-direct X though...
The first direct X game i had was Virtua Fighter! It was DX2 and i remember crapping myself while installing when it warned me i could have serious driver conflicts! But my little STB Trio 64V+ worked just fine :)
Sega were one of the first companies to make all Windows games too, I had echo the dolphin, Sonic CD, Panzer Dragoon, and Sega Rally, all on Windows!
That must have been around '96 ish.

I'm sure Vista will be faster at gaming, but not initially. Just look at the Win9x to WinXP transistion... Win9x was slightly faster for a short while.
MS is using Halo2 to sell Vista in the same way Halo2 sells the XBOX. Problem is that works for all the kiddy n00bs, but I personally couldn't give a flying fart about Halo2. Halo 1 was crap on PC - laggy sloppy graphics.

Ye the Vista only thing is a bit silly I don't intend to run Vista on my main rig for at least a year until it has the majority of its bugs fixed. Surely making it Vista only will hit the sales a fair bit the shops will have to make sure or at least the box will that it is Vista only.
As for Halo 1 on the pc the online was fun but i agree it was badly coded but it was still fun online.

Halo 2 will be on PC, my guess is towards June it'll release. I had lot of issues with it on xbox, including to much uato aim and huge hit boxes ( I understand alittle autoaim, but jesus.. ) They'll be fixed in this veersion which is good. Plus iwdescreen and it'll run smoother

When Halo was released on PC, the game sucked so bad it was not playable. However, I re-installed the game yesterday and had a blast. No lag at all and very smooth performance.
