I can't say how thankful I am for this fix. Keep up the excellent work.

There seems to be an issue in Skyrim where in game written notes are cut off at the right margin. This was not an issue before the last update. I just noticed earlier. Otherwise, everything looks great!

Post by Syonco »

Neat program! However with Borderlands (Steam version) i'm experiencing a c++ Error exactly (i've timed it) 14 minutes after starting the game. The error goes like this if it's of any help :

Runtime Error!

Program:
...amsteamappscommonborderlandsBinariesBorderlands.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information

After "OK'ing" that error another one follows :

Pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning==1)

Got c++ 2005/2008/2010 with all SP's. Tried re-installing the game itself and the c++ packages. Still happens :-/ Anyone else experienced this? If so please advice as it's driving me insane.

Post by Syonco »

After further testing i've come to the conclusion that it's the Flawless Widescreen program that causes the problem (didn't try playing without 3 monitors before today) -- clocked in over 2 hours of playtime on 1920x1080.
Tried disabling the "HUD scaling" option, still crashes after 14 minutes of play. Perhaps there's a error log somewhere that i could provide to further shed some light on this problem?

Any chance you can take a look at Fifa 12 and fix those horrible menus?? Looks like a similar problem as Skyrim. Gameplay is fine but everything else (menus etc) is zoomed in.

Hey HaYDeN,

First off thanks very much for all the hard work you've been putting into this. It's growing nicely. I just started playing Far Cry 2 again today, and eyefinity seems to work great apart from the HUD only seems to center for a hard coded eyefinity resolution (according to the detailed report). If the hud offsets aren't hard coded to this particular resolution, it sounds like it'd be some simple on/off switch you could flick if FWS detected an eyefinity/surround mode. I'd be more than willing to gift you a copy of FC2 on Steam if you'd give it a look.

On a side note, I've been playing alot of older games recently, and wouldn't mind trying a bit of widescreen hacking in some of them, and contributing fixes to FWS if they work well enough. Are there any articles in particular you could point me towards to get started, or should I just read around and play about?

I will look into it - if you read back you will see there were several sets of pointer which I've slowly migrated to assembly, there is only 1 remaining and that is obv. what is causing the crashing, however migrating that particular one to assembly breaks the already centered menus, These things do take time unfortunately.

Enable/Disable

Post by Cullanna »

Hi HaYDeN,

Not sure if this is just me having this probelm, but for the Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 fixes they do not disable when using the disable/enable check box.

This means i have to exit FWS if i want to play either of these games on 1 Screen.

Thanks.

Fixed - there was a missing function, I must have cloned the Counterstrike one to make the D3 and SC2 fixes which had this issue a while back, will push it out in a few hours, in the meantime tho you can right click these two plugins in the treeview and click re-install.

Thanks for the constructive feedback - this is how things get fixed.
