Thanks everyone for your entries ! Please take the time to make sure your
monitor model is not working, i.e this is not a software issue. If 1680x1050@57Hz "does not work", what happens exactly ? Funky colors, nag screen, error message... ?
Setting custom res's in nvidia cp has been a PITA lately - failure doesn't necessary mean the
panel is to blame.
Known not working:
Viewsonic VA2216w
sorry, should've posted these here a while ago. They run 57Hz 1680x1050 but not 5040x 1050.
If you can get 1680x1050@57Hz to work with no artefacts or nag screen, then it's a "known working" model ! Getting 5040 to work can be tricky, but that's a different thing.
PROBLEM MODEL:
BenQ FP222W
Tried to force under Nvidia control panel, cannot support 57Hz. Will not work.
Details plz, what happens ? A "test failed" and an "out of range" OSD message are not the same thing for instance.

The monitor runs at 1680x1050x58-60Hz but couldn't set it to 57Hz. The Nvidia control panel said 'test failed', listing that the monitors range of operation went as low as 57.499Hz but could not hold 57Hz.

If 1680x1050@58 works you *may* be able to create 5040x1050@58... Still, looks like a "problem model" indeed.

Well, today I bought and tested a 'known good' model, Viewsonic VX2240W, and I had the same problem - test failed. I wonder if its the video card (8800GT OC) that isnt able to output 57Hz? It's not even getting to the part where the screen starts whinging, it's just a straight up test failed on the Nvidia control panel.
I'll try to get the VX2240W running on the TH2G as soon as I get home. When I accidentily tried the Benq FP222W with the TH2G, it said Out of Range and I couldn't even access my desktop, had to disconnect the TH2G and restart the computer. Problem is, because I couldn't see the desktop, I couldn't be sure what resolution and frequency the TH2G was running at, to be sure what the problem is.
I'm hoping these VX2240Ws work for me like they have multiple other forum members, seeing as I bought 12 of them...
I'm still coming to terms with how to set up the TH2G, I don't normally complain but I feel it's pretty light on instructions, both when plugging it all in for the first time and setting it up.

Fortunately, as other forum members advised, they do work just fine!
Interestingly, when I chose a custom resolution of 1680x1050x57Hz in the Nvidia control panel, I would get a "Test Failed" message on both monitors.
However, the TH2G works great with the Viewsonic VX2240W (great monitors too, thin bezels), but the Benq FP222W refuses to work, sits there with a black screen and an interestingly blank OSD message.

I am working to overhaul the Master Monitor List. Going to stop doing the individual monitor pages, and expand the info on the list itself. I have added a column for 57Hz support. You can see it by clicking on the "Monitors" link in the left nav.
I've updated all the "not working" models, and all the "working" models up to the Samsungs. Will pick up with them tomorrow.

hi all. been following this site for while. listen to what the big boys say.
Blew my TH2go (analogue version) about 2 months ago. gutted as you can imagine. then went two screens aswell!!!!
i know this is crazy but i decided to buy 3 x packard bell viseo 230 ws. OK! cheap but 1920x 1080 if it all went wrong. 16:10!!!!,so!!! 1680x1050 is if u want to be perfect is a very little on these. got TH2GODE and within 5 mins was up and running. set up my mates pc with 3 x 22" monitors running at proper 5040 x 1050 ratio. difference???? not alot really. in my own opinion it depends on your levels of enjoyment, so i would recommend the packard bell viseo 230 ws. reasons??? it works. and well.
ps. check out matrox new pci xpress card. hehe. buy buy 3 screens?? naaah
also update matrox.
:P :P :P
good luck
