Works great!

Post by profosor_54 »

Just checking in to thank racer_s, it really works great! I found the game pretty good so far, but now i enjoy it a lot more for some reason.

Switching off the hack makes the game feel downright claustrofobic again.

Don't suppose there's anything similar in terms of a fix for the xbox 360 is there?

This game makes me feel so sick :(

Hello,
First time poster here. For some reason whenever I hit numpad * to enable the fov settings it closes the game out instantly. I am using the latest version of the hack with what is listed as the recomended fov settings for 16:10 ratio I play at 1920x1200
Thanx for any help I have googled and everything looking at forums and see noone mentioning it.

Hello ...
Are you using vista ?
Is it the Steam version of the game ?

I don't mean to be disrespectful to NightRaven but his version of the tool will not fix the vert- aspect of the FOV as it only adjusts the horizontal.

Actually it should. Vertically it should display the same fov as a user on a 4:3 ratio screen (using a 1.0 factor). Then the horizontal fov is adjusted to fit the screen aspect ratio.
If you want to see more you can of course just use + (without worrying about the the aspect ratio).

See the following:
Default:

Fix with factor 1 (same V-FOV as 4:3, using a factor of 1.067 = V-FOV of a 5:4)

with factor 1.1:

and 1.4 ;)

I'm also using vista 32 and steam. Just dumps me back to desktop without a warning as soon as I press *

Tried launching without using steam and I get the same problem. I guess the version you download with steam doesn't like the hack :(

well could you please try my modded fix and see if that works? even if not it should not crash the game but might display an error in the "Fix" status filed if the memory patch location is not recognized, i.e. diff. version of executable.

So why didn't you reply to my PM with this info ?
As I mentioned there I tried it in TripleHead and it did not help with the vertical and I expressed my concerns about 16:10 ...
As you didn't reply I assumed my thoughts on 16:10 were correct.

Sorry.. i was playing FC2 =)

Ok if it didn't work correctly with tripple head, what value did it show in "Res X"?
It should of course be 5040, if it was then it should have worked, if it was not then my Res. detection needs to be reworked :)

16:10 or any other AR should be fine with my fix as long as the screen resolution is detected properly.

I am running the retail DVD version of the game.

Hey, Racer_S! I remember when you similarly helped out the STALKER fans with a much needed widescreen fix. Great job, and with 12 pages of "thanks you's" it should be obvious that your work is very much appreciated!

anyhow... i modified the hack for myself to get it to work, if the original works for you then there is no point, if it doesn't then you can try my modification or just wait for Racer_S to fix it.

@ NightRaven ... When I run the tool in TripleHead ...
The tool does see my res ... 5040x1050 and says AR: 4.800 but the vertical hasn't changed and I can only alter the horizontal.

@ puffydogg ...Try NightRaven's version of the tool ... although it doesn't work for me in TH is looks from his screenshots like it is working ... http://raven.is-a-geek.net/post/FwO_FarCry2_FOV_v1.zip

With the FOV Hack open, and my game full screen, my game runs at about one frame every 2-3 seconds. If I switch to windowed mode, the game runs fine. Any idea?
