New Nvidia drivers are out. Which can be found here:

http://www.geforce.com/News/articles/nvidia-geforce-290-36-beta-drivers-released

They do include an update to Skyrim.

The drivers also add official support for Ambient Occlusion in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I am installing now and will post if I see any other improvements.

Has anyone else followed this link? Please do NOT if you haven't. I can't find anything wrong with it but instead of checking Nvidia's site directly through the browser I followed this link.

Firefox froze up, not responding, recovered, not responding, recovered, etc. Then other issues occurred, task bar wouldn't load completely on startup and a couple tray icon wouldn't show up
even though the applications showed they were loaded in task manager. Then slower reboots, disk access time to multiple disks was wayyy longer, etc.

Shortly after my computer won't boot now, just sits on the "Starting Windows..." screen and thats it. Start up recovery either can't complete with errors or quickly completes and the computer still won't reboot.

Now I have to reinstall OS.

So if you haven't clicked that link, DO NOT and if you have, did anyone else have issues?

This is an official site from Nvidia, you should not run into that kind of problem. I will say I have downloaded a bad beta driver package before, where it would not open after I got it and I had to go nvidia.com to redownload it, but it was probably a bad copy or it was still being uploaded to that mirror. I did not have any issues when I got it from PCGamer.com, nor is it problem for my friend over at Techgage.com that linked directly to it from his site, after I told him about earlier today like I did here. I am sorry that happened and if you feel that this link was a problem, try nvidia's primary site or report it to nvidia it is possible something may have been compromised on that site. This could also just be a case of coincidence as well, not trying to point a finger that it's your fault or your hardware, but I wont rule it out, just like I wont rule out the site being compromised. I did just try it again in both Chrome and Firefox both up to date with the latest versions and nothing happened on my end. Again I'm sorry to hear about your inconvenience, but as far as I can tell, the site is safe.

Having issues wih surround all of a sudden.

Hey folks, sorry if this has been mentioned before in this thread but I'm pretty new to the site and haven't discovered if there was a way to search a specific thread instead of the whole site, but enough of that for now. I'm currently having issues trying to play Skyrim in surround, every time I go triple monitor my screen distorts, menus and everything like that stay fine and if i have 3d enabled through it works fine. Leaving me completely stumped. I've done everything from deleting .inis to a full reinstall of the game (after backing up mods/saves) but it still does this. Even odder it was working fine not 2 days ago using Hayden's fix. Any help with solving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

haydens fix issue

Post by RAGE_Saint »

hello all, I've been trying to use Haydens fixes (I've tried 3, 4a, and 4b). I "INJECT THE PATCH", then start the game but it immediately crashes back to the desktop. BTW I'm using "Radeon PRO" to disable one of my GPUs on my 6990, but I've also tried to start without using Radeon PRO and get the same result (in case anyone was wondering). I've also tried to start the game, ALT+TAB, INJECT, then go back into the game, but that hasn't worked either, it just gives me a black windowed screen and hangs upon trying to re-enter.

Is there something else that I was suppose to do (i.e. an .ini file change, or some other requirement I overlooked)

Thanks for your time!
BTW, my resolution is 5760x1200 with NO bezel comp. (just in case that's important)

No, nothing else, run the fix, click on Inject Patch and launch the game. Are you running the steam version without any modified .exes ?

Yes UNmodified. Legit via steam.

DAMN, no idea why this is happening. I've been following this thread since it's inception hoping this would fix it for me. Hmmmmmm.........

Also, I let the Launcher AUTO-Detect my settings because I cannot select 5760x1200. After auto detection it states that the aspect ratio is "Standard (4:3 or 5:4)", though when in game things are displayed properly at 5760x1200 (with the exception of the broken menus of course.). BTW, the game does start for me when I DO NOT use Haydens fix.

Just to make sure I am clear you run the launcher, go to the settings let it autodetect then you run the injector, run the game by pressing Play? If that is the case then you should go to C:Users(USERNAME)Saved GamesSkyrim open up SkyrimPrefs.ini and edit these two values "iSize H=" "iSize W=" to "iSize H=1200" "iSize W=5760" save it then exit. Run the injector from Hayden, run Skyrim but don't configure any video settings and see what happens.

in regard to the "settings" I was just making it known what I had done when I first setup the game. I DO NOT mess with the settings every time. I initially let it auto detect because that seemed to be the only way to get it to allow me to utilize the 5760x1200 res. Now I skip that set (settings/auto-detect) because it is saved that way, though I do click PLAY.

I have checked the "SkyrimPrefs.ini" and it does reflect 5760x1200

Hayden fix does show "Skyrim Process Found", then it looks as if it's going to load for about 1 to 2 seconds, then crashes to desktop (no errors or anything though), it just shuts off as if it's normally shutting down, Haydens program also reflects that it was successful (in the log).

Ah okay, thanks for clearing that for me. What I think maybe happening is that UAC is screwing you up, try just disabling it completely and then restarting your comp. It's under Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > *USER NAME* > Change User Account Control settings. If that doesn't do it, try right clicking on Hayden's fix and choose "Run as Administrator". That's all I can think of with out more to go on, try checking your event viewer in Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer and under Windows Logs > Application see if you can find anything in there with a yellow asterisk relating to either TESV.exe or Skyrim_UWv0.3.exe (Skyrim_UWv0.4a or 4b.exe) there might be something there, at least I hope there will be.

I just had an idea. I run Comodo Firewall and Antivirus. There are two modes that make my apps run funny Sandbox and Defense, I pretty much disable these because it will prevent things like Winamp from adding it's self to the explorers right click for files. Try disabling your AV or other malware software to see if they are causing the problem, and hopefully you can isolate the culprit.

I use AVG (free) anti-virus. I disabled the protection temporarily within the program itself. Still NO GO. I may try to "kill" AVG all together, then try it that way. Gotta figure out how to do that! brb

Just remember that there is a problem with come configs that crash Skyrim if your audio isn't set to 44100 khz, have you tried changing that in your sound setting under Windows?

When you ALT+TAB back to the game, you also need to ALT+TAB all the way back to it again, then you need a wait a few seconds and it will come up. I just reread your initial post and saw that you didn't mention trying the double ALT+TAB. Just trying to cover all bases. (c:

in regard to the audio, wouldn't that present a problem even if hayden's fix wasn't implemented? Just to reiterate, I can get the game to function, it just will not start up with Hayden's fix injected.

as for the "double ALT+TAB", I'm not understanding what you mean.

I use ALT+TAB (once) to leave the game, then when I try to re-initiate the game (using ALT+TAB) it basically opens a full screen black window and just hangs there (the audio continues to play. FYI.).

Ah okay. I didn't understand you could get it to launch with out Hayden's fix, sorry for that just trying to brain storm.

The ALT+TAB situation, ALT+TAB to get out and run Hayden's fix, ALT+TAB back to Skyrim when it gets there it will black with a windowed border, then ALT+TAB back to Skyrim again wait a few seconds and you will be back in the game.

No worries man! I really appreciate you taking the time!! thanks a ton!

I tried the "double ALT+TAB" as advised. I opened the game and selected my current saved game (which I hadn't done before), Upon the first ALT+TAB I got out of the game and injected the patch, then ALT+TAB'ed back to the game and it went to the "windowed black" screen as it did before, upon trying ALT+TAB again, it went back in succesfully, though as soon as i tried to go into any menu (inventory, MAP, etc.) it crashed right away.

hmmmm........ thoughts?

I have an issue now where the top right corner of my screen (top right corner of right monitor) flashes every second or two showing the desktop. Everything else seems to be working fine for now. Must have been introduced by the new patch I assume. Using hayden's .3 fix and the 4gb launcher.
