The attack probably put extra demand on the servers... it's not exactly crazy they blamed demand first.

it is ... when the servers are supposed to be monitored closely ... (especially around launch days ...)
don't you think so ? :?:

Never in my life have I been unable to play a game because of DRM.

Until now.

Fuck you Ubisoft.

And a even bigger fuck you to the hackers who want to fuck over real gamers so they can get their pirated shit quicker. Enjoy playing your pirated games on your mommy and daddy's pc you little fuckers.

You want to be a little bitch and get something for nothing fine, be a little bitch. But stop ruining it for the paying customers. Without us no one would make any games worth fuck all.

Ungrateful little shits. I pay 60$ to get fucked in the ass by some dumb corporation and a bunch of ungrateful little pirate shitheads.

I think Tanuki did when he bought it. Hence his anger.

Unless he's just acting?

Clean Mod Edit version :

I'm very angry at pirates.

Full ranting version :

You have a group of pirate shitheads. AC2 has this heavy-handed play protection that hasn't been broken yet. They are pissed off that they cannot play for free. So they fuck over the paying customers.

They usually get to play the games first and for free so pirate shitheads and their over-developed sense of entitlement get all pissed off and start DOS attacks and spamming game forums encouraging people to do the same.

Why?

To pressure Ubi into dumping the DRM so they can play for free. And who do they punish to do it? The paying customers. THE PEOPLE WHO ARE THE ONLY REASONS THESE GAMES ARE ON THE PC TO BEGIN WITH! That is how arrogant and self-entitled these pirate shitheads are.

Then they show up and start spouting their bullshit reasons as to why they are justified to pirate. Who gives a fuck what they think?

Throughout history humans have rationalized the most horrendous things they can do to each other as justified. The idea that you can be justified to do something implies that others are not. Stupid shithead pirates. You ain't the ones filling up publishers coffers for more games. Shut the fuck up with your stupid excuses. Talking about piracy as some sort of human right you have been privileged to receive is spitting in the face of every human who has ever truly suffered.

You going to pirate? Then pirate and STFU.

Don't come into forums with your bullshit excuses and try to talk down to people and complain about DRM. You only give a fuck about DRM when it stops you from pirating. We are the ones who have to put up with DRMs, and forced registrations, and bullshit premium DLC that is planned before launch and the like. We are the ones who pay the money that brings these games to the PC.

If it wasn't for us you would have nothing to pirate you fucking pirate shitheads. You don't have to like us, you don't have to respect us, just leave us the fuck alone and let us game. Don't come here and talk about how justified you are for pirating over us and DON"T FUCK WITH OUR ABILITY TO PLAY GAMES THAT WE BOUGHT BECAUSE YOUR SHITHEAD ASSES CANNOT PLAY IT YET!

WAAAAAAHHHH! I can't steal some shit and get away with it before all the paying chumps! WAAAAAAHHHH! I am going to fuck them over to get what I want! WAHHHHHH!

I feel like biting the ears off you stupid pirate motherfuckers.

Here is the deal shithead pirates...

IF WE STOP PUTTING UP WITH THIS SHIT YOU AREN'T GOING TO GET SHIT ON THE PC EVER! Enjoy MMOs and Solitare motherfuckers cause that is all you will have!

It has been down once before.

I was under teh impression teh current cracks have some "issues". Well, it is good to see that spite is another motivation to screw people over.

You know, honestly, when I read about how AC2 requires online to get at your saves, I immediately started thinking of all the ways this shit could go wrong, and it just so happens, I check a week later, and here's Tanuki screaming up a storm because of the one method I could see pulling Ubisoft's pants down at the big money grubbing convention. Good for the "hackers", sorry Tanuki, but Ubisoft needs to be taught a lesson. Offsite data storage is bound to fail sooner or later, get enough overzealous people willing to make a stand and show Ubisoft what retards they are, and that's what you get. Frankly, you shouldn't be mad at them, you should be mad at Ubisoft entirely for 2 reasons.

1. They introduced a very vulnerable point in the whole system which could knock off thousands of AC2 players all around the world.
2. They didn't do shit to protect said vulnerable point.

The human equivalent of what Ubisoft did was walk around with it's junk hanging out saying, "Hey baby, like what you see? Gotta hop on without protection and see where it takes us." Some guy gets pissed at this STD infected freak and shoots him in the dick for hitting on his girlfriend. Ubisoft had it coming to them, get bent with them for being retarded and taking your money for a product that they can't even control properly. This is why I don't support retarded programming/financial choices by buying into a retarded developer/company with "financial woes".

The money made from these types of games on the PC is relatively small for Ubi.

The only result that will happen from Ubi learning a "lesson" is that they stop making PC games or treat the platform as a dumping ground for titles that no longer sell on consoles. They might abandon this form of DRM but they will try a "new and improved" one eventually.

EDIT - Also, think about what you said. Ubi needs to be taught a lesson. Obviously someone who says that has not payed for AC2 on the PC otherwise they would not be so eager to see their game broken. Why do they get to decide the worth of Ubi's system? They are not the paying customers. Let the paying customers decide if it is worth spending money on.

You want to teach Ubi a lesson, don't buy the game. Don't bork it for those who did cause it undermines your entire position.

Pirates are in no position to make any claim that even smells a little bit like self-righteousness. Seriously, "people willing to make a stand?" They're thieves, what are they making a stand against? Their right to steal games conveniently?

And if a man whore gets an anti rape device to discourage non-paying customers, and you shoot him in the dick out of spite, no one is going to believe it was to teach him a lesson. You're the one who will be seen to have acted badly. Not the him, and not the "retarded" clients who put up with his behavior.

Cranky, I think that is without fail the worst analogy I've ever seen you use.

Tanuki, the last sentence of your edit; that's what I've done. I've not intent to buy or play that game at all now. There's loads of other things to play...

It's not really my analogy - it was more of a continuation of Cynagen's, which has plenty of problems, one of the most glaring being a DDOS attack compared favorably to shooting a guy in the dick. As if both of them were justified and/or represented constructive criticism.

This pirate tactic is brilliant in its simplicity. If they cannot play it, they'll make sure no one can play it. They are forcing their problems (being unable to play a pirated copy) unto people who have the ability to play it (good online connections and legal copies).

I've just read on another website that a new pirate attack is being prepared for today, 13:00 hours Moscow time. Ubisoft better be prepared.

A Ubisoft developer on Steam forums has said that Ubisoft doesn't make any money from its PC division. They barely manage to recoup porting costs. I think it's time for Ubisoft to simply leave the PC platform all together. They have tried everything, from offering games with no DRM (Prince of Persia) to games with Starforce. It never worked for them.

They are very successful on consoles (all their recent games sold in millions) and with all these problems on PC platform they should just leave it alone and concentrate on what they do the best - creating excellent console games.

Generally speaking Ubisofts PC ports are fairly decent, sometime even better then the original, the problem is how long after the console releases they release the PC version. Prince of Persia was a good game as well, and while its DRM freeness didn't really effect the piracy rate ultimately they still fucked up by effectively making that really annoying ending, the end, period, while on the consoles they had an extra DLC.

In short Ubisoft bad track record with the PC is there own fault by giving PC customers sub par support.

If Ubisoft don't make a profit on the PC, then they're flogging a dead horse, like it or not. "Trying everything"... yeah, that's great. Leave a market that loses you money. Basic business strategy.

I'm pretty damned sure that the original Far Cry made Ubisoft a heck of a lot of money, but I can't think of any recently Ubisoft game that hasn't been multiplatform, and frequently had the console version come out before the PC version. The problem comes when people get impatient - many PC gamers also have consoles, so will buy the console version if that is released months earlier. I'm not saying all PC gamers own consoles, but I'd bet that a fair number of them with high-end rigs also have one or more consoles.

I'll have a gander through my PC game collection at the weekend if I have time, and see exactly how many Ubisoft games I actually own. I've got a feeling that it's just the Splinter Cell games and Far Cry, as they're the only ones that really stand out in my mind. Oh, wait, I picked up Far Cry 2 when it was cheap in HMV... although it's so pants I don't think I ever bothered to play it for more than four hours. Even my cousin got bored playing it. She doesn't get bored with any game until she's completed it. Other Ubi games I own? Assassin's Creed on the PS3. Bought because it came out on the PS3 before the PC. So I'm a case in point of a gamer who prefers PC games, but bought the console version because of the wait. Treating the platforms equally would help, I suspect - no one likes being treated like a second class citizen. ;)

The Silent Hunter series?

Ubisoft Games I own:
Dark Messiah: Might and Magic
Far Cry (1+2)
Rainbow Six: Vegas (1+2)
Silent Hunter 4
Beyond Good and Evil (PS2).

I think one assumption everyone is making is that it's the pirates that are initiating the DDOS attack on the server. Who's to say that these are simply disgruntled customers who chose not to buy this particular game because of the DRM but still have some say from a patronage standpoint as to what Ubisoft should do with their games (in a sick/twisted sort of way, and this isn't the way to go about it).
