[quote]I don't understand isn't that the same adapter they used at an event to show eyefinity. How long is an event like that did they not have any problems. Did they not test adapters at all.

Could be that it's a monitor compatibility issue with the Bizlink adapter. I and some others don't have any issues at all with the Bizlink adapter. I'm using an xfx 5870 (bought at launch week), Bizlink adapter (from early October), and an Asus vw266h, with no blinking issues. I haven't seen it in 2D or Eyefinity mode.

Well it should be here in a little bit so I will update when I get it running.

Just for reference, since I swapped one of my screens for a Dell U2410 DP screen a few weeks ago, the screen has NEVER gone off, (although I now have other multiple screen flickering issues since I upgraded from a 5850 to a 5970!).

I do think it is an issue with some monitor/adaptor combinations.

I am selling my adaptor on eBay if anyone is interested, (see following link), but you may find that it does not work with your monitor.

Well got everything hooked up and been testing different games for a couple hours now. Have not had a single problem. Also switched inputs to 360 on the HDMI input swap back. So maybe I got a good adapter or it likes my monitor who knows. Hopefully it stays this way.

Now to figure out how to set up a hotkey to turn eyefinity on or off. I would like to be able have 3 seperate monitors when I am not gaming so 3 extended monitors. Otherwise I have to sit there and manually size windows. If I open firefox or anything it spans across all the monitors haha. Anyone know how to do this.

That's great news! I appreciate that you specified exactly what you have. Too many posts read like like: "D00d, mine works just fine! Whaddya talkin bout?". Yeah, right.

I think I'll try a few different monitors I have lying about, but I know for sure the HP w2408h and Westinghouse L1916HW don't work. I've got a Gateway 22", a tiny 17", a 32" LCD tv and the big 60" Sony I could try.

Looks like we have 2 monitors that are known to work: Gateway FHD2401 and Asus vw266h.

Crossing my fingers here, once again :(

Sorry haha I meant I was switching inputs. My DP to DVI is hooked to DVI on monitor and I have a Xbox 360 hooked to the HDMI input on monitor. So I was switching between the two to see if I could reproduce some of your guys problems but still running strong has not flashed or turned off at all.

That is just awesome. Thanks for letting us know what works :D

Also, I've tried every permutation of settings on both my monitor types - to no avail. Next I hook up my LCD TV and few other monitor types I have. Hopefully I'll get lucky and prove once and for all that this is (hopefully) a monitor incompatibility issue.

Well, I've got good news. I hooked up my 32" LG LCD TV and it's been working fine for over 4 hours now.

The problem is definitely related to what monitor is being used.

I plan on ordering 2 cheap 32" LCDs for what will hopefully be a pretty amazing experience. I'll post pics!

got the Acell adapter in today that I ordered from Amazon (looks exactly like the Dell version) and it has worked flawlessly since about 5 pm cst. I can't say for sure, but it appears that most of the problems are with the Bizlink adapter. Just to note, I have the USB plugged into a wall adapter and not the back of my tower. Although my powersupply should be more than enough to handle it.

Great news! What monitor are you using? And did you try that same monitor with the Bizlink or is the Accell the first adapter you've tried?

You can see where I'm going: it may not be that the Bizlink or Accell is any different; it may just be that you happen to have a monitor that works with either adapter.

I've got a total of 6 different monitor types available for testing, and thus far 2 haven't worked and 1 has. I'm going to test the others tonight. The LG 32" TV is still going strong 6 hours later and so I'm declaring it to officially be compatible. I suspect that all of these larger non-monitor LCDs may work because they seem to be missing the typical auto-sleep crap of "real" monitors. I did try disabling that "feature" in my monitors, but it didn't help.

It's actually great news because I wanted to do something really special and create a driving simulator based on my Playseat, G25 wheel and 3 32" LCDs in Eyefinity @ 5760x1080. Should be friggin amazing, especially once they get Crossfire and Eyefinity to place nice together. Even so, my framerates using a single 5870 are surprisingly acceptable (although not in Crysis of course!).

Lastly, I'm going to order that Acell adapter as well. If it doesn't work any better with my presently non-compatible monitors, I'll just return it. Maybe it's got some different firmware or magic pixie dust in there

I have three Acer H213H 21.5" monitors. I tried the Bizlink adapter on all three with the USB plugged everywhere excpet in my butt and they all did that flickering. I have the Acell plugged in my far left monitor closest to my tower and it is working great. Tried Aion and WoW on it and both ran without a hitch. I have no idea if this one will work for other people, but it's worth a shot if your only other option is buying DisplayPort native monitors/tv's.

Um, you might want to take that Asus vw266h off the list of working monitors. I have 3 set up. I have Dells displayport adapter . I get the monitor cutting out.

I set this up Monday morning. and it has done it 3 separate times. so about once a day. it starts as what looks to be just interference then it flickers on and off. with each time it flickers the staying off lasts longer. .If I unplug the adapter and immediately plug it back in. It stops and I'm good to go for a while. this appears to be completely random.

I have 2 5870's with of coarse one card just sitting there not in crossfire (insert choice word here).

It's not as frequent as some of you others have mentioned. but it bugs me enough to go searching for a solution.

So I end up here. bummed because there doesn't seam to really be a low cost solution. I think ATI's decision to market this eyefinty without fully testing it. Is BS. all because they wanted to top there rival Nvidia.

Well it seems there has been some collateral damage for that decision. and they either don't care or they don't care

Ok is everyone that is exp flickering and monitor turning off are you running in Eyefinity mode or extended desktop mode.

I noticed something last night.

While I am in Eyefinity mode I have no problems at all.

When I run Extended Desktops 3 @ 1920 X 1200 I get flickers on all monitors and when I launch firefox or any other program my monitors jump like up and down sometimes and also get tearing lines. This happens on all my monitors. Then if I go back to Eyefinity everything is fine. I am using the Dell/Bizlink. Been running in Eyefinity mode for a few days now and have had no problems at all. Tried to set up some hotkeys and desktop shortcuts to turn Eyefinity on and off last night and started noticing these problems.

Another bug in the Catalyst is that I have to click on the Eyefinity shortcut 3 seperate times before it will setup correctly.
Then to go back to Extended I have to click on the Extended shortcut 2 seperate times before it will setup correctly.

I don't think they have even tested any of the features in the Catalyst. Starting to wish Nvidia would have had something like Eyefinity out by now. I know I would not be having these problems. All this is just way to buggy. I mean I am running eyefinity fine but I don't always want it to be on eyefinity. I like to have 3 separate screens at 1920 X 1200.

I have been going through this thread in it's entirety trying to find an answer. I see a possible solution. and then the next person shoots that possibility down. by explaining the steps they tried to resolve this issue with no success. we need to come up with a list. . Things that have been tried.

Maybe I'll go through and list all the things that have failed. I mean how many people are going to RMA there dell adapter back only to get a new one that does the same thing

USB wall charger - ?
Different active Displayport adapter ?
New 9.11 GPU Drivers ?
Different Monitors ?
Turning off Overdrive In CCC
Taking overclock off card?
Different DVI cable longer /Shorter ?
Is this just with the 5870 card or 5970 also
Larger PSU ?

I'm not sure if this has been tried yet. but has anyone tried using a DVI to HDMI cable instead of a DVI to DVI into the dell displayport adapter. I'll give it a go

My Dell adapter works perfect when in Eyefinity.

But when I set up extended desktop with my center monitor being the main. Both my DVI monitors are jumpy and get lines through the bottom of those displays when I move things on those displays or open a program. Display port to DVI monitor is perfect no jumping or lines in display.

Again none of my monitors are shutting off. A couple times when switching to extended the DP to DVI has flashed a few times then comes back on. But I have never exp this while in Eyefinity mode.

The flicker in the extended desktop I believe is a known issue with CCC . and is directly related to ATI overdrive.

While i was waiting for my third monitor. I had a chance to try the dual monitors. I extended the desktop to the other monitor and that is when i noticed the flicker. I noticed that the second monitor had a really bad flicker. The flicker was generally horizontal and would not go away with resolution/refresh rate/color depth changes. Moving a window around the #1 and #2 desktop makes the flicker worse. the flicker was generally present on whatever monitor is set up as the secondary. The primary monitor would remain flicker free. or if it did flicker it is very minimal.

I did a search and found that others were having the same issue. Others had discovered that if you turn off , or rather disable "ATI overdrive" in CCC the flicker went away. which I tried. and in fact it did.

The problem though, was that even though the "Enable manual fan control" is ticked. once you disabled the ATI overdrive. The fan speed for both my cards. would be reduced to what I assumed is default speed of 21%. the slider will move and the values will change. but the apply setting did not function.

It created a problem with me having the ability to run Dual monitors.

I could disable ATI overdrive to run dual monitors and have no flicker, but it resulted in my cards getting extremely hot. due to the fact that the fan speed would not run past 21%.

If I enabled ATI overdrive I regained control of the fans. but then I have the flicker.

what I had to do was to download MSI afterburner and use that utility to control the fans insted of the CCC . I disabled ATI overdrive all together. so running as an extended desktop. I would say that it is caused by CCC. try disabling overdrive and see if it goes away
