Aspect Ratio problem FIXED for doom 3 engine games ...
I've tried getting it going by reading the stuff in this thread. It's a bit of a confusing mess. :) No luck. Is there a method for adding custom resolutions to Doom 3? When I have Eyefinity set and start the game it dumps the Eyefinity grouping and runs 3 clones.

My problem is with (steam version of) Prey
i tried the cfg.file changes, the dlls Paddy posted on the first post and even through optimizing from the SGU
My problem is I only get it showing on 2 monitors(the right 1/3rd of the game is cut off)
Paddywak EDIT ... Removed config as it turnrd out it was unnecessary and very long ... 8)
sorry for the spam i was hoping there's something in my cfg file that would point out why i'm only seeing 2 screens
im using windows XP(sp3) with a 9800gx2(195.62 driver) vid card and e8400 cpu
maybe i messed up the correct sequence of applying all the changes?is there one?

seta r_mode "16"Try with seta r_mode "-1" + Paddy's dll. Not sure it works with the Steam version though.

yea i don't know why this latest con-fig had that as 16,the multiple attempts i made had it at -1
maybe the steam version just wont take :(

Ended up buying the CD version
installed>patched to 1.4>ran game in 1280x1024>applied SGU optimization>ran game again(got my infamous only2 screens again
checked config file(all good) replaced original DLL with Paddy's 1.4 version>ran game again,same 2 screens (only)

Don't forget to set the dll to 'Read only' or the game will reset it automatically! Also the SGU optimization is NOT required at all.

w00t sorted! It was the fact I have the matrox desktop management to have programs open in the centre screen- THEREFORE Doom3 opens offset to the right, none of the others seem to. Sorted the MOHA error as well...

ok... I think I missed something.. where is the download package fix for the doom3 RoE CD version? I have been messing with this for about an hour now and I can't figure out how to fix the FOV.. I set everything as listed about a hundred times in this thread, have the custom .dll installed (ro mode)... I still get a squashed image of everything in Doom3 RoE.. I'm also interested in fixing Classic Doom for Doom3, but one thing at a time here. ;) So I am guessing I need to find this package with the .pak files in it and get those installed?? where can I DL them?

Hi Mobster,
if it's not too much effort do you think you could apply the FOV fix to the Novint Falcon MOD for Doom3? It's a MOD that let;s you use the Falcon as a controller but it has it's own game86.dll which is not interchangeable with yours. If it's a matter of putting it into a hex editor and editing a few bytes, do you think you could manage this for the Falcon community?
Really appreciate your help in this matter. It's a shame to have to choose between more immersive controls or view.

Thanks to Paddy , Racer_S, Mobster007, and geniv2 for confirming the game is running perfectly fine at triple wide resolutions, gonna add heaps of screenshots later.
Steam version here, the 5040x1050 solution posted by Mobster 007 in page 8, still works great.
Doom 3 on triple wide + ultra high settings + AA 8X looks awesome. :o

Quake 4 is also running fine at 5040x1050, retail version here with the latest patch applied (1.4.2), i posted some super wide screenshots here.

Just for future reference and other people, could you specifically state in a separate post which versions of the games you are running with which hacks? And if you had to modify the hacks in any way?

It is 11:15 pm right now. I have been trying to get doom 3, roe, and quake 4 running since 2pm today. 9 hrs blown of my 2nd vac day. What a waste but I am one of those people that can't put something down if I can't get it to work.
This is a very confusing thread as there is ALOT of different info for diff scenarios. Also a 4 year old thread.
Here is my situation: I have 3x1680x1050 monitors and a 5970 gpu on win 7 64bit. Trying to go eyefinity with these games.
Has anyone got it working in eyefinity? Could I ask exactly what file you used? What page of this thread and by who. Also what patches of the games you used. I am on cd versions of all the games.
I installed d3: patched it right away to 1.31 and installed roe. I have seen where it is better to get the triple working on d3 b4 installing roe. Has everyone else did it this way. Then I installed various sets of the dll files here.
I also could not get it to work in quake 4. I had it patched to 1.42. Got it to go triple wide but it looks like it is all squashed.
Could someone explain the read only stuff. I am just copying the gamex86.dll, game3/4 pk4 file and win 7 is asking me if I want to replace the original ones and I am saying yes. Is this wrong? The file is read only from the start.

Ok I got d3, roe and quake 4 working as far as I can tell. If it is right does the middle screen on triple wide look just like the screen with single player? For example when playing q4 when I use the scope on the machine gun the view is oval and it stretches over into the left and right screen like this () but horizontal. The view on the rest of the game looks right though. It is not squashed at all but it is not perfect. It does look like the first page photos of the thread with the aspect ratio fixed. Are the menus supposed to be all stretched out?

Hey MobsterOO7, im sorry, ive just read your post, im running Doom 3 + RE - steam versions, and Quake 4 - retail version, all updated to the latest patch.
I havent modified the hacks, just installed as available here at wsgf. :wink:
