I read in the NV forums that STALKER runs 5-15fps faster in vista, so what problems are there in vista, propably crashes? :(
... correct from what I have read.

Damn, but I will buy it anyway tommorow because I need a new game.
I really hope "widescreen" doens't look that horrible in real as in the pictures and it's playable with the bugs.

I can't remember where I read it now but it was the highest setting of the lighting that seemed to caused the problems ... and those quicksaves seem to be a problem in Vista as well as XP.
Saying that there are a few that say it runs flawlessly for them in Vista ...

I am actually quite pleased with the way the game looks, real gritty like Fallout. Most of the graphical overhead is caused by the advanced lighting and realtime shadows. Because of the way the sun tracks overhead they couldn't use any static shadows, it's all dynamically rendered. They also use a much more accurate and realistic lighting system than most game, I forget the name.

Yeah the game looks quite good, we just played it on my friends laptop, could only run low res and medium graphics and of course static lighting but i was still impressed.
Looks like a really fun game.

Hi,
have anyone of you dialogs which are cut-off at the right side? I tried both the English and the German version, to no avail. I presume this might be caused by 16:10 resolutions, I play at 2560x1600.

No I don't think there was a post with a fix ... :( ... all that was said was to not use the highest setting ...
The post about this issue was on the http://www.gsc-game.com general forum for Stalker ... but the forum is closed at the moment.

Some people have been having problems with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound ...
I was one of them ... I wasn't getting 5.1 ...
Apparently ... the problem seems to be , that the openAL32.dll Stalker is using, only plays software acclerated sound. With the new dll (below) it uses hardware acclerated sound.
By replacing the
OpenAL32.dll in the ... C:Program FilesTHQS.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobylbin ... folder with this one
here ...
I now have full Surround 5.1 and it sounds way way better ... :D
Make a backup of the original one ... just in case it doesn't work for you !!!
Do this replacement at your own risk.
