Post by dopefish »

Restarting the game or your computer will not change how it behaves.

It scans for the hotkey press every 1/10 a second. If you hold the hotkey down it will actually toggle the fix on/off/on/off/on/off/etc. I will try to restore the previous behavior where the hotkey would check if its pressed and held down, not just pressed.

HUD Left will say 0 if the fix is disabled because the left-side of the HUD is all the way to the left, which is 0.

The important this is that the HUD right is the horizontal width of the game resolution before you enable the fix.

Post by AW51 »

Still running game and fixer. Nervous about shutting it down in case it does not start back up properly.

game running YES
fix enabled YES
aspect ratio 5.6
hud left 2064
hud right 3984
base address 0x400000

v. 1.5.387 sp
display count 3
detected resolution 6048 1080

Its workin but for how long? Wont know til I shut her down and restart the fixer and game again, and after spending so much time trying to get it to work, I am in no hurry to close it off. Guess I'll be playing COD MWW3 for the next while untl I finish it again.

I will keep you informed of my journey and how it progresses

CONTINUING....

Played COD MW3 for a couple of hours to let the fix sink in (sounds crazy but just me) Then I decided to load Call of Duty Black Ops, and the fix is still working :twothumb

We will slowly reload everything and see if it continues to work. Not sure what I did to make it work, but hey, I'll take it!

I uploaded r371. I made a small change to the Unmanaged.DetectDisplays libraries. If you were getting crashes before with these libraries, try this build and let me know if it still crashes.

Same Unmanaged.DetectDisplays64.dll error.

Post by balooga »

Dopefish, I tried the r371 and still having the Unmanaged.DetectDisplays issue here. The last version that I was able to run, and am still able to run, is 2.3.59. (This is with COD MW3, Black Ops, WAW). All still work with this older version except for MW3. I personally don't think any of the v3x releases have worked (all have crashed right away). With all of the v3x releases, the program starts (no ui) with just the icon in the taskbar. It stays there for a few seconds. If I move the mouse over it the icon goes away. The event log shows:

Faulting application name: Widescreen Fixer.exe, version: 3.1.365.0, time stamp: 0x4f469b49
Faulting module name: Unmanaged.DetectDisplays64.dll, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f469b26

Fault offset: 0x0000000000013308
Faulting process id: 0x1284
Faulting application start time: 0x01ccf29659ca785a

Hope this will help. Thanks

Tealc,Can you go to here

Post by dopefish »

Tealc,

Can you go to here and try each revision until you find one that doesn't crash?
http://www.widescreenfixer.org/old.php

Start from the newest revision and work your way back.

One thing to test is when Widescreen Fixer opens up, there's a hidden button in the lower-right corner of the main window that will pop up the detected information. Press that button in each revision to verify not only that it doesn't crash, but that it also shows valid information.

WSF Loads to gui.
Allows dropdown change of game
Allows "Multiply" to toggle Fix enable / disable "YES/NO"
Clicking on GEAR Crashes to desktop
Clicking on hidden HAND crashes to desktop

additional sidebar note: SWTOR WSF Enabled makes the hud and all bars disappear. But it doesn't crash WSF.

Post by dopefish »

Try this:

  • Download ProcDump, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900

  • In an administrator command prompt, run this: procdump.exe -e -x "Widescreen Fixer.exe" "Widescreen Fixer.dmp"

  • It should start Widescreen Fixer. Make it crash by clicking the button in the lower right.

  • Send me the .dmp file. If you have no place to upload it, you can upload it here: https://files.gaemsofyesterday.com/

Post by wuudogg »

So R374 when launched with procdump.exe does not fail when you click the check box.
Command c:>procdump.exe -e -x "c:Widescreen FixerWidescreen Fixer.exe" "Widescreen Fixer.dmp"

GUI Launches
It will not allow me to select games. Dropdown is empty.
Hidden area shows as a box. Selecting box brings up "Detected Display Info"

Error? No
Error Code:0
Error String:
Multi Monitor Enabled? No
Display Count:1
Column Count:0
Bezel Correction? No
Hor Res: 6048
Vert Res:1200
Aspect-ratio:5:04
HUD left: 0
Hud Right:6048
HUD Top:0
HUD Bottom:1200
HUD Width 6048
HUD Height:1200

I can open and close that Detected Display Box at will.
When I attempt to launch WSF without Procdump it crashes at launch.

Post by dopefish »

That's weird it doesn't crash when using that.

Try this:

Remove all game plugins from the plugin directory and start Widescreen Fixer (not using procdump). The list should be empty. Then click the button in the lower-right and see if it crashes.

I also downloaded the v374.7 and when I removed the Plugins folder, the UI would start and the selections would be empty as mentioned. I could see the icon in the lower left and left click or right click and it would not crash but couldn't do much more. If I put the plugins back in though, when starting, the app would crash after a few seconds.

Dopefish,
I went back through old builds. The last gui that works without crashing when selecting gear or hidden box is r347.
Widescreen Fixer r347 - 212.61KB - 2012 February 15, 17:04:06 EST
It crashes when enabled for games however.

I appreciate you trying to make sense of all of this.

Post by dopefish »

balooga, can you try running procdump and successfully generate a .dmp file?

wuudogg, I'm not sure what to make of what you're saying. The changes between many of these revision is so minor that it shouldn't matter. For example, the only change between r347 and r348 is literally three letters different. In r348 I changed the DR link for Mass Effect 3 by adding "/en" to the end of the previous link. r348 should not crash at all for you.

On top of that, AMD Eyefinity detection wasn't even add until r350. Since you're using AMD it should not have made a difference at all with Unmanaged.DetectDisplays. I'm thinking the crash has something to do with the way your system is configured, or possibly some driver issue. Until you can get it to crash while running procdump, it will be hard to diagnose and track down.

Your /old.php directory jumps from 347 to 355. 347 works. 355 doesn't. I don't see a 348 to test. Happy to if you'd like. Would just need the file.
