BFBC2 Crash to Desktop using either Surround or Eyefinity
This is exactly what I'm
This is exactly what I'm struggling with as well. I can play BFBC2 Vietnam for hours in Surround without any issues whatsoever. The moment I play vanilla BC2, it freezes/hangs for a couple of seconds and then crashes to desktop (CTD). I can play the game fine on one monitor so the problem is obviously related to Surround. I'm using 270.61 WHQL and I've tried 275.33 but neither of them work.
Has anyone tried the new Beta drivers (280.19)? Does that fix the issue?

The problem is related to poor coding on belalf of DICE when it comes to BC2 Vanilla, notice how you can play Vietnam all day without a crash in multi-monitor mode? The same is true for eyefinity users, Vietnam plays fine but something with Vanilla is causing the crash

Alright guys, could each and everyone of you go to http://twitter.com/#!/zh1nt0 and post on his twitter about this issue? He's a community manager for DICE, and with enough posts we'll have a shot of getting DICE's attention. They need to address this issue.

good idea man.. we need to apply some pressure and make some noise to get this fied. I can't play more than a half hour in eyefinity without getting CTD

That really blows. Says a lot about how they'll treat BF3 customers in the future too doesn't it? |(

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why
Yeah, I'm not quite sure why everyone is saying that they're going to buy BF3 immediately. If anything, we should start a boycott of BF3 until we get a promise of working eyefinity/surround, and most importantly continued support of eyefinity/surround. If we all buy BF3 it will just tell them that they can continue to treat us like dirt, and we will do nothing about it. We are a small community, and if they think we're not worth supporting, then we shouldn't support them.
Yeah, it's quite
Yeah, it's quite disappointing that they haven't and will most likely never fix this despite having the fix available.
Personally, I think I finally got mine to work again. I had 5870 Xfire and then went to GTX480 SLI and then went to GTX580 SLI. The whole time it was on the same platform, which was an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with an Intel Core i7 930 and 6GB Ram.
I've since updated my PC to a Asus Sabertooth P67 with an Intel Core i7 2600K and 8GB Ram. The last few times I played the game it worked fine and didn't crash.
So there's your completely unrealistic solution. Upgrade your base hardware and hopefully you pick something that doesn't have the same issue.
With the coin DICE is going to be taking in on BF3, there's no reason why they couldn't afford to have a dedicated developer or two releasing patches on BFBC2.

So let me get this
So let me get this straight..theres a fix,it was made by DICE,BUT THEY WONT release it?
WHY?
Is there anyone we can email specifically?
BTW i was in BF3 ALPHA BUILD,It was outstanding,HOWEVER,i will still be going back to BC2 in the future,it only makes sense to release the fix to keep all of us gamers happy to keep buying there products.
If they dont release it,the they are inept in helping True PC Gamers, keep to PC gaming.
I believe PC GAMING is back on the up.so lets keep it that way and help out the Pople that buy your Products and keep you in Buisness

The reason it wasn't released
The reason it wasn't released is because it wasn't a big enough fix to have it's own patch... since the game's got a strange way of cooking together it's files, the update process isn't as simple and involves alot of work. So they slated the fix to be put in with R11 client patch. Which was apaprently in QA, but ran into issues.
Then EA put the screws to DICE to get all hands on deck for BF3 and r11 never makes it out.
I'm sure they still have future plans to get BC2 patched, they don't just abandon their products, but it will probably be some time till it happens now.
Good news is they know what they broke so we shouldn't see the same thing happen with BF3.

Also, to point out, DICE
Also, to point out, DICE don't have the manpower on hand to do the latest BC2 patch. When they say their focus is on BF3, it means just that. After BF3 is "done", they'll start looking at that to-do list for BC2. Another thing that I wonder is how many people believe that DICE is "big enough" to do BF3 and BC2 patching at the same time.
Unfortunately, I may not be able to try the latest BC2 patch when it's finally out. My focus will be on BF3 first so tinkering with the latest BC2 update will be second priority. Ironic, ain't it? Their focusing on BF3 to make it good while we're stuck with crashing Eyefinity/Surround setups. By the time BF3 is out, some/lot of us will be past that and be playing BF3.

Hey guys
It looks like the multi-monitor fix is going to be officially rolled out soon. The R11 beta just went live, and DICE said if it looks good, they will issue an official patch.
The patch notes include fixes for crashes due to high detail, high fov, or multi-monitor.

I played the R11 beta for a couple hours and no issues. Looks like they may have fixed the issue.
But I dont care, I am pretty sure that once BF3 is out I will never touch BC2 again.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'll never play another minute of BC2 once BF3 is out, but at least this gives me confidence that the very same eyefinity/surround CTD issue won't be in BF3.
I was very concerned that DICE's left hand (BC2) wouldn't know what the right hand (BF3) was doing, and we'd wind up with the same legacy CTD issues in BF3.

Well it is the same guys
Well it is the same guys deving both.
Given it a try and it is sweet, no CTD running all high x4/x16 at about 100FPS. Pity there are almost no servers, a few in US and Holland. Empty too.

Probably won't be long until it's live though. I mean it made it finally through internal QA, this open beta should be short.

If you are planning on buying BF3 you may as well DL Origin. I deleted BC2 from Steam and DL on Origin to test out R11.
