The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle my request.

And every single site related to BFBC2 in any way are pretty much down too. Why after years and years of this kind of thing on popular launches, do they not add extra infrastructure in to prevent against this? It's almost guaranteed to happen.

Anyway, excited to give it a play later tonight hopefully.

I've had the game downloaded and installed for about 20 minutes now. I start it up. Fix all my controls and video settings. Go to play. It's asking for serial...

Argh! Steam hasn't sent me my serial yet! The cruelty!

Ehm not sure about your copy, but i can view my CD-key by right clicking the beta, and selecting 'view CD-key'.

I'm still installing so not sure if that is the right cd-key. Are they supposed to send it to you?

CD keys were sent via steam, but had not been sent at the time I was posting. I've since gotten it via steam and registered.

Game is running smoothly so far on my rig. Screenshot!

I've played it for a bit, but it's unplayable. Too much lag.

Yea, I was in as soon as I got the key and was playing for a few hours without issues. I guess everyone has the beta now and connecting and playing is a nightmare. Not sure if that's the cause or not.

Well keep in mind that it is a beta, and still has over a month to go...

Right? It's out in March?

PS - anyone know where to get keys without a pre-order?

Also keep in mind: If they are indeed shipping March, they would HAVE to have gone gold by now. This is what we're getting on release date, anything else will come in a patch.

It's not a beta, it's a paid demo.

They only use the phrase beta to get people excited and so the dips on the forums can say "stp compaing bro, its a BETA"

Not sure what was fixed, but I've been playing most of the night and haven't had any issues. Personally enjoying the game so far. Peeved that crouching is not a toggle and you have to hold it down to stay crouched.

My thoughts so far:

-Latency doesn't show for me in the server browser
-Can't seem to sort the server browser... (beyond filters that is) i.e. can't alphabetize, can't sort by min players/max players, min ping etc. etc.
-Get some horrendous lag sometimes, and then other times it runs beautifullly...
-If i'm scoped in and holding back and then scope out my player is stuck running backwards for about 3 secs.

You sir are a minority, most PC gamers get angry when crouching IS a toggle.

LOL I guess I've been playing too much MW2. Peeved is probably too strong a word. I got used to it. :P

Hehe, MW2 brings over its console traits, I presume that zoom is non toggle?

I played for like 30mins, i could not stand playing with FOV 60(?) made me so pissed. why cant they do it right for once? I play on a widescreen 24" monitor @ 1980x1200 and it feels like im running around with a sniperrifle zoomed in all the time wtf?...DICE get a grip.

Got mine through Fileplanet...no pre-order.

Played for about an hour....good looking maps, beautiful graphics, immersive sounds.

Theres no lean option and everyone seems to be playing sniper

Jury is still out....

The FOV is actually fine IMO. It's not as extreme as BC1, and it's acceptable.

I think it's dumb that you have to hold down crouch, but then zoom is a toggle. I would prefer if you had to hold the button to zoom and it unzoomed when you let go. You can do much more rapid aiming like that. I prefer having to hold down keys versus a toggle because then it's only a matter of letting the key go to return to your natural state instead having to press the key again.

The actual game is good. Though i get some weird close quarters accuracy when medic.... standing on top of someone and spraying my entire clip = 4 hits...

Going assault and sitting 100m away = 2-3 hits to kill someone. tap tap tap.

Sniper zoom looks ugly as hell.

Menus + server browser suck. I hope they fix this. (#1 pet peeve at the moment)

Can't get my microphone to work. (#2 pet peeve)

Can't seem to rebind melee to something other that middle mouse button so that i don't knife half way through firing an entire clip.

Ugh I really dislike most of this game :?

Everything just feels wierd even the most basic stuff like movement and mouselook, it just doesn't feel 'right'.

Edit:
Arg It just makes me sad when I think about it :(

Yeah the default mouse sensitivity in all battlefield games sucks hard. Really need to tweak every single setting before i can just play comfortably.

Also, hot tip: spamming q gets you on top quicker than actually killing anyone.
