Yes, but anandtech used 3 x Dell U2410 for the 5870 review, these monitors have Display Port, HDMI and DVI-D connectors.

Instead of attempting the native resolution have you tried setting the displays to something smaller like 1280x768? Maybe it's a resolution related bug?

It also would be nice to know what Catalyst driver version people have been successful with.

This article is showing them use all 3 port types for their EyeFinity configuration:

Yes, the monitors they used in the review have all three types of connectors.
From the ATI eyefinity technology page :

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity.aspx

..."to enable a third display you require one panel with a DisplayPort connector. " (small letters at bottom of the page)

Maybe an active adapter DP - DVI is actually required to connect a DVI only third monitor.

But as far as I understand it, the guy (dazboots) said he can get the monitor connected via DP->DVI when running 2 monitors. If he can run 2 monitors including one with DP->DVI, common sense would say he should be able to do DVI,DVI,DP->DVI, no?

How about trying DVI, DP and HDMI like they did in the article? That ATI website says it requires Catalyst 9.10 or newer.

With the different driver versions tried did you driver sweeper them clean for removal before installing the next driver? I could possibly foresee how some pre-9.10 catalyst driver parts might have inadvertently been left in place rendering it nonfunctional.

I just realised something else that might be effecting things, are your DVI cables dual-dvi or single-dvi? It could be that the use of dual-dvi cables makes it so it can't push 3 displays, while using single-dvi bandwidth cables might? I'm thinking along the lines that dual-dvi will pull 2x the display requirement, while using a single-dvi cable wouldn't.

Or maybe the DP-to-DVI converter requires a dual-dvi cable? I'm guessing the opposite is the case, but I'm looking for variations that haven't already been tried yet.

That's an "out-in-left-field" guess but it might work.

I appreciate that,

What i meant is that if I have three monitors which all have DVi connectors.
Can i use the eyefinity if i get an adapter to change one of the monitors
dvi socket to a display port socket?

i.e

x2 monitors connected via DVi

x1 monitor connected to the GPU's display port output socket - however have
an adapter on the monitors DVI socket to change that to a display port
socket?

Will this work??

Dear Customer,

Your service request : SR #{ticketno:[8200241085]} has been reviewed and
updated.

Response and Service Request History:

For 3 monitor support, one of the monitors must be connected to the Display
port on the card(not hdmi) to Display port on the monitor. You could then
use 2 dvi monitors. The requirement is that the Display port must be used in
the configuration.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service
request reference intact.

Best regards,

eyefinity

Hi'a the support info for the 5870 says that I require a monitor which has a
display port connector, (hdmi i assume? correct me if im wrong) as well as
two other monitrs which have DVI connectors. Will the eyefinity tri monitor
display work if i have three monitors with DVI connections, however have a
DVI to HDMI connector on one monitor to match with the card requirements?

I've posted a further question asking why an adapter won't work I'll keep you posted

however I'm a tad irratated, as I've just bought three monitors and none of them have display ports

with regards to the ports used on the gpu it has to be the dvi's and the display port it will not work with the hdmi somthing about channels on the gpu or somthing, there's a review on toms hardware site which explains why

Yes, thats pretty weird, check this post by Genaral Admission, it describes (the pic link is down) an active adapter being succesfully used to run a triple setup 2 x DVI-->HDMI + DP -->DVI-->HDMI.

What about something like these?

Note is says that there are some Display ports that won't work with normal adapters.
