[quote]Fantastic! Do bad I need 1440x900. Any plans for that.
Malakaius already did 1440x900 (
linkage).
However, his is based on the 1280x960 interface so make sure you select that in UniWS.
At some point I'll do a 1440x900 based on 1024x768 so we're consistent. Additionally Malakaius didn't center the combat queue so I'll take care of that too.
I certainly appreciate all of this, and I am going to be playing for the first time now. I started it, but never got very far. Will try it in Surround.

I found a relatively quick way to edit the 2D background screens (for the inventory, Pazaak, etc) for widescreen. I suppose I'll do those too while I'm at it. Though I'm not sure why I'm bothering. I can't imagine that many people are replaying this game anymore.
That seems like overkill there.
Meh, seeing this:
instead of this:
every time I go into a menu screen makes a difference to me. It's especially distracting on the Pazaak screen.
Plus it took me less than 45 minutes to do all the resolutions. All I do is open up the 1600x1200 verision, crop or expand as a appropriate based on the resolution I'm doing it for, do a little resize back into a texture size and save. Literally than 2 minutes to do one. Unfortunately I just had to repeat it 7 times for each resolution because that's how many different 2D backgrounds are in the game. It was still a nice break from editing those damn hud coordinates.

Can you email me these when you send the latest HUD files? That way I can make one package for everything.

Yes that's what I was planning. I'm putting all the files in their own folder based on resolution, I'll zip it up and send it when everything is done.
Though I might skip doing anything with 2560x1600, sorry. I was doing the backgrounds and I noticed that the menu really ends up being a tiny little window at that res. I'd imagine that even on a 30" screen the HUD icons and menus would be so small that the game wouldn't be very usable at that res anyway. Owners of super high res screens will just need to use a slightly lower res.
---update---
If my math is right, on a 30" screen at 2560x1600, the majority of the text in the game is going to be about 3/32 of an inch tall (about 2.4mm for those of metric persuasion), e.g. tiny. Unless you have bionic eyes, or sit 1 foot from your screen, I can't imagine the game being comfortably playable at that res.

In any case, because the largest background screen available is 1600x1200, and I'm no artist, they will have black bars on the side for resolutions above 1600 in width. They're plain old image files though, so once I upload the files for the corrected side, some artist can just load them into P.Shop and try their hand at filling in the blank space.
I patched to 1280x960 and put the 1440x900 in my override folder and saw no changes. Is the file correct? Anything else I could check?

Did you unzip (or rather un-RAR) it first? You didn't just dump the RAR file in the directory right?

That should be all you need to do.
Had you used UniWS on Kotor previously? If you didn't undo your previous changes first, it wouldn't work correctly. Other than that I have no suggestions.
I should be uploading my files based on the 1024x768 interface to Ibrin in the next 3 days. If you can wait a few days you can try mine, but they shouldn't be any different in functional terms.

The UniWS does work in Surround, but the subtitles don't show...

I have uploaded all the files for widescreen at http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/WSGF_Hacks_for_SW:KOTOR
Too bad the game is broken in TH2Go. With no subtitles, there's no way to play.

It would be a matter of editing the LEFT values in the process described earlier. Very tedious, but not difficult.
However, as I very much suspected, Ibrin has confirmed surround resolutions have the missing text issue. The wider the resolution, the thinner the letterbox bars; once they drop below 100 pixels - kiss the text goodbye. I kept searching for a way to change the ratio of the letterbox bars and never found anything; at tihs point I'm pretty sure it's just hardcoded into the game and we'll never be able to fix it.
I will be doing 2560x1600 because Ibrin requested it and said the text wasn't too small.

Not to take credit from Stevedroid for his work on the HUD files (Which he admittedly did more manual work than I did on the gui files) , But the new KOTOR page says that He figured out how to edit the files. However I was the one whom Originally discovered and posted the edited gui files and told him how to edit them. So it only seems fair that I get at least some mention.

My apologies that I didn't follow the process flow on this major accomplishment. There is certainly no intent to deny credit. I have edited the KOTOR page, and I've also added you as an Insider.

Ack it's my fault. Sorry Malakaius, I should have said something to Ibrin. To be honest, I didn't really care if I was credited at all and I'm a little overwhelmed by how much mention he gave me, so it never dawned on me to make sure I had a "with thanks to" section.
Malakaius got it all started by linking me to the tools and doing the first hud edit, I learned the process by taking a look at his example.

Edit: And Thank you Ibrin, I hadn't even known what an Insider was before I got the email  Hehe
EditEdit: Also, Nice work on the Menu Backgrounds Stevedroid, They look Much better.

1280x768 is such an oddball resolution because it's 15:9, not 16:10 or 16:9 like everything else. I suggest you setup a custom resolution of 1500x900 and use the files for 1440x900. It's not going to be perfect, but it should be close enough that it won't bother you.

2560x1600 works flawlessly. Thanks Stevedroid. Some folks might not like the minimal HUD, but I love it. Now, I'll finally get around to playing this.

Well I finally got off Taris. Here's how the turret minigame holds up in widescreen:
It does very well, it's hor+ like the rest of the game. You can see the cockpit model isn't quite finished there on the sides which would normally be off screen, but it's not very distracting.
Swoop racing also holds up fine. It does use a 2D overlay, but's it's centered. Unfortunately I forgot to take a screenshot. I'll post one up once I get to Tatooine.
