Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlRPfeDyFKU This is what I recorded today my first time playing. Running 5760 X 1080 AA 4X 40-50 fps running an ATI 5870.
Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Nice to see the beta supports EF. You didn't have to anything weird to get it to work?
What're your specs?

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
I will chime in on this. To get it to work you'll have to set the resolution (5760x1200 in my case) then exit the game completely and restart the game. In my case it wouldnt set the resolution correctly if I did not restart (after selecting desired resolution), the screen would just blink continuously (you can still play the game it's just annoying) and not set the correct resolution. Pretty simple though. Another odd thing the game always starts windowed clicking it will cause full screen though. It's possible these two conditions only affect me, of course.
I am getting 45-35fps with all setting on high, 4X AA, 16X AF, VS disabled, HBAO on. 5760x1200 Resolution.
Specs - Phen2 x4 965BE @ 3.8Ghz, 8Gb Dominator 1600, HD5970 OCed 900/1125, Asus Crosshair III MB, 3x Dell U2410
elmy, what are your detailed in-game settings at? Just Curious.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Yep, DICE are to be congratulated on this one imho, Eyefinity support is excellent out of the box.
On my system (see sig), I'm getting the following...
CROSSFIRE ENABLED - High settings, 2xAA, 4xAF, HBAO off
Min 34
Max 65
Avg 44
CROSSFIRE DISABLED - High settings, 2xAA, 4xAF, HBAO off
Min 26
Max 45
Avg 33
CROSSFIRE ENABLED - High settings, 2xAA, 4xAF, HBAO on
Min 27
Max 41
Avg 31
As you can see, another nice surprise is that Crossfire is very effective in this game. HBAO on the other hand kills the performance on my rig, and frankly the game still looks fine without it, so I'll leave it off.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
I think the performance in general is really nice.
You can crank the settings up and it won't really drop the FPS that much.

Really hope they decide to implement a fixed FOV for this game, it's so stretched at 5040x1050 :(

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
I loaded the beta from Steam last night. I get a small (looks 640x480) window which quickly disappears when attempting to launch. 2x5870 cf, Win7x64. Gave it the obligatory reboot, tested again and then went to bed.
:)
Anyone else hit that one?

Yeah there's a fix for that here..

It's a DX11 thing apparently, same thing happened to me. Another workaround is to launch the game from the actual .exe, rather than via steam.

Awesomo, thanks a bunch!
Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Above worked great of course. Thanks again for the link.
Getting about ~33 fps on High/1x/16x @ 5760x1080 with 2x5870's, 10.1. Didn't look right of course seeing others numbers so I disabled CF. Jumped to ~45. :D & :x &
Going to browse a bit for some info on it, then try going back to 9.12 hotfix and see what it doesnt do.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
I "upgraded" to 10.1, FPS dropped horridly, nearly by half  . Switched back to 9.12 Hotfix, will have to find out what the deal is....
Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
No change going back to 9.12 hotfix. :( Back on 10.1 now with CF disabled.
Have never seen the CF logo in any testing.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
It's weird, Crossfire seems really hit & miss. Some people (including me) report it gives them significant fps increases...mine went from 33 to 44 avg, but others find it kills their performance. Really odd, and a bit of a nightmare to troubleshoot I guess.
Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Yeah, it's a tough one. Another un-install / wipe / re-install of 10.1 was no help. This is exactely what I was getting in NFS:Shift, which I should probably test and see if it's back to fail with CF enabled.
Fairly frustrating, but not much I can do. :x

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
I could not play the game when it was maxed. I now have everything on High and 1X, 1X for AA and AF and HBAO off and I get 30-40 is this right I am running 5760X1200. I have noticed mixed results though, sometimes I get higher sometimes when the game loads it is really low.
I still can't load the game from steam I have to go and launch from the exe file.
What is HBAO?

I still reckon you should be getting more than that with your 5870s compared to my 5850s, but at least it sounds playable. HBAO is something to do with "Ambient Occlusion"...some clever shadow malarky I think. By the way, off topic, what do you think of your Fanatec wheel?

I really like it a lot. I used to have a G25 and the fanatec is better by far. Just feels like quality and is very very strong. Back to the game I am going to try a couple things. I might be getting more then that now because I played again and noticed everything was on high, and it was smooth as silk. The first time I played I was having issues with the game not even loading it was crashing before I even got in the game. This was from launching from steam. I then went to the root folder and it then worked fine. I am going to launch the game crank the settings and see what I get. Here is a video of me playing Dirt 2 with the wheel.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity
Sorry for taking so long to get back. Im running an Intel Core i7 @ 3.78 , Ati 5870 @ 900 / 1300 and im getting about 35-45 frames with everything on high and AA @ 4X
Every once in awhile the game just closes randomly. But other than that it runs pretty dang smooth. My temps since im watercooling after playing BFBC2 for an hour are around 40 degress celcius
